CHRIS

"Thank you, Mr Daniels, for your time. We appreciate it a lot," A sheriff tapped my shoulder a few times and I carved a smile. "We also have got the results, stated that his fingerprints are also in the carbon monoxide case at Mr Louis Daniels's office."

He gave me a piece of paper that showed the fingerprints analysis. I read thoroughly before I frowned and looked at him.

"We also figured out that his fingerprint was not the only fingerprints that we found. It involved Sam and Vicky too, known as his troops," he explained.

I nodded and I gave him the paper back. "So the hospital already inform you about Diane?" I asked.

"Yes. She's fine. Will be admitted to NovaCare rehab and treated by Dr Steele there," he said. I nodded again.

"Chris!" I saw Phoebe was running towards me and then, she hugged me immediately. "Are you alright?" She whispered. I tried to release myself from her but her embrace was too tight.

"Your girlfriend?" The sheriff taunted me. I shook lightly, made sure that Phoebe would not realize that. He laughed and left both of us alone at the entrance door of the police station.

"Can I talk to you for a while?" I asked and she let go of me.

Both of us walked to the bench beside the police station. I wanted to tell her the truth. And, I hoped she would be okay with it.

"I wanted this to stop," I initiated.

She frowned. "I don't... understand," she replied.

I sighed heavily. "Whatever is happening between us, I want it to stop," I said.

She chuckled softly. "Why? Is it because of my uncle, Carter?" She smiled at me.

"No..." I hesitated. "I just... I just don't feel it is the right thing to do, you know. To be with you but in the same time I am in love with someone else," I shrugged and licked my lips.

She smiled at me, surprising me. "You're joking, right?" She tickled me.

"No..." I smiled and at the same time avoiding her hands. "No, I wasn't joking. I'm saying the truth," I said.

"Really?" She widened her eyes. "I'm so happy for you," she half-hugged me.

"Seriously?" I asked and she nodded mirthfully.

"So, who is the unlucky girl?" She asked.

"Katherine," I answered.

"Jeez, my best friend? Katherine Winter?" She scoffed. I nodded. "I knew something is fishy whenever you two were together," She added.

"Actually, we started to hang out together about two months ago and when she found out about us, we broke up," I clarified.

She laughed in disbelief. "I cannot believe she was dating you two months ago. None of us really know about that. Perhaps Eleanor knew but whatever," she chuckled softly. "So are you two still a thing now?" She asked.

I chuckled, ignoring to answer her question. "You will come to Carter's trial tomorrow?" I asked.

"Hm," she nodded. "I should go. He's my uncle after all, right? I'm sorry for what he had done. Your father's former manager met my dad this morning and told us about everything."
