CHAPTER 13

CHAPTER 13- LUKE'S POV 

It was a dark, rainy night and I was comfortably seated in the couch of a café. I was waiting for my car to get fixed, since I drove upon sharp shards of broken glass on my way home. I sighed to myself thinking what a mess my brother’s made. Mum and dad are surely unhappy about it. But when are they happy about Jake? I’m not stupid to realize I’m their favorite, even the blind can see that, that’s why I know that getting to Jake’s soft side would be a bit difficult.

I walked out the café and already on my way to the car shop to check on my car till I saw a girl walking in the rain. She was beautiful, but no match compared to the ladies I’ve met back in London. She was a bit tall with tan skin. Her long, wavy brown hair framed her beautiful, yet bothered face but she was nothing special. I decided to be a gentleman tonight and I walked over to her side and shared my umbrella with her. She stopped pacing and I stopped as well, she stared right through my soul with her eyes holding so much emotion. She looked at me like she has known me for years. I looked at her back and all I saw was a pained expression. Suddenly, tears started flooding her eyes and a wave of sympathy and curiosity shot through my body. She buried her head in my chest and sobbed even louder. What’s with this girl? I looked at her with a confused and skeptical look.

“Jake…” She whispered.

A realization came to me. She thinks I am my twin. Fits of tears came rushing down her eyes and down her cheeks.

“I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry if I left you. It’s just… you were kissing her… and you know how much that hurt but you still… and I’m…” She stuttered, hiccupping in almost every word. I know I’m being a jerk and all, but I would really like to hear the rest of this story. Why was she saying sorry to Jake? And who does she mean when she said ‘kissing her’?

“Where have you been? Why did you leave me? I thought you’d wait? Why did you…” She struggled speaking through the tears and sobs. I haven’t heard the rest of the story, but can never put anyone in this much pain. I can see her heart breaking just by looking at every tear that falls down. This girl must be so addicted to my brother. The bolts in her head really need adjustment.

“I think you have me mistaken for my twin brother, dear angel,” I said as gentle as I could.

She looked puzzled at first, then, a look of shock covered her face. It was priceless and honestly, if it weren’t for this serious situation, I would’ve burst out laughing at her expressions.

“You seem taken aback… me and Jake do really look alike,” I tossed her a smile.

She smiled back at me, erasing all traces of confusion. Though she can’t hide the pained expression on her face… I’m guessing there was just too much. My brother is such a heartbreaker, guess he got that from me. Poor girl though, why did Jake have to break this one’s heart? She seemed so innocent. I only break the heart of those hoes, but she looks like a sweet girl, so out of my league. Gullible girl too, when she looked at Jake she should’ve known that he’ll only break her heart, so it’s kind of her fault, too, but I can’t help but feel sorry.

“There you go, you look stunning when you smile,” I grinned playfully at her. Complimenting her was the least I can do, after what I had done even though I wasn’t really dazed with her smile.

 “Uhm, sorry if I went overly dramatic earlier… I just, err,” She blushed in embarrassment. I’m guessing she told me the things that she’s bottled up only for Jake to hear.

“The rain’s pouring louder now… do you mind if I walk you home?” I asked her politely, still smiling, this is just a part of my being a gentleman and besides, I have nothing to do ‘till my car gets fixed. Why not walk her home? She glanced at her watch and a look of panic came over her face ‘till she agreed.
