Zoe’s POV
“So, care to explain further?” Toby asked as soon as we were settled in the living room.
“You see,” Luke started, not seeming nervous at all after seeing Toby in rage earlier.
“My brother’s been ‘missing’ for two months. And mum and sent me here to get things straight… but don’t worry, I’ll be on the first plane back to London, as soon as this thing blows over,”
“So, your brother…has he been found already?” Toby asked skeptically.
“I asked a few of mum’s personnel to go look for him in certain places.” Luke said proudly.
“You didn’t answer my question.” Toby scoffed and said with an irritated tone. Why did Toby care so much anyway?
“I’d like to keep the confidential, if you don’t mind,” Luke said politely.
Toby snorted. He doesn’t like Mr. Fancy over here and keeping secrets from him did not help. He got up and went to the direction of the kitchen.
“Sorry, he doesn’t like people keeping secrets from him. I hope you understand,” I smiled apologetically at him and he nodded, giving me a small smile.
“When can I see him?” I asked keeping my head down. I wasn’t ready for this, and I still can’t face this with my head held high knowing that this is probably my fault.
“It depends. Wait for my call,” There was a long silence that followed his words. I had a lot more to ask but he wasn’t giving me concrete answers, so what’s the point?
“Why?” He broke the long silence that stood between the two of us. It was like he forced himself to utter that question.
“I screwed up,” I said honestly, knowing what he meant with his question. Memories of the night I left Jake came flooding back. His pained expression as he pleaded me to hear his explanation was glued to my brain, tearing me apart every minute I see it.
I didn’t bother explaining the rest of the situation. I figured that since he’s staying here, he’d catch the rumors of what happened. He told me more about himself and how ‘great’ he was at almost everything. I was amazed at a few of his stories of his accomplishments in this prestigious university in London. He talked animatedly about himself and how he never had a girlfriend that he was truly in love with before, that’s why he never understood Jake. Luke was the total package of a player and Jake was serious about me.
Toby soon got more irritated of Luke for some reason and he asked him to leave. Well, at least he did it in a somehow nice manner. As soon as Luke was out Toby let out a sigh of relief.
“What was that about?” I asked raising an eyebrow.
“He irritates me,” He said monotonously.
“What did he even do to you?” I asked, pissed off.
“His presence alone ticks me off,” Toby marched to his room without waiting for my respond. Ugh, so rude.
I went up to take a shower then slumped down my bed knowing that I would not have to do late night searches for Jake because he’s already found. A small smile crept up my mouth knowing I’d see him again.
It wasn’t long till I drifted to sleep then woke up to Toby’s horrible singing voice. He was singing a song of his all-time favorite band which name I forgotten.
“Will you quiet down?! It’s a flippin’ Saturday!” I yelled as I buried myself under the blanket.
A second later, the door burst open and Toby was wearing his boxers and a pair of socks, now singing loudly in my room using a broom for a guitar. Sheesh, my brother was a retard.
