Toby's pic on the sideeee. ;) --->
We were driving in silence on our way to my house. Jake had razor-sharp focus on the road. He’s always been like this. He said he didn’t want us in any accident on the road or something. But there was something different today. He looked at me and saw that I was staring at him. He gave me his genuine smile filled with love.
“I love you, baby,” I said winking at him. He put his index finger on my nose for while and looked at me with sparkling eyes that lit up fireworks inside me.
“I love you more, my princess,” He said smirking. In a matter of minutes, he parked up the driveway near my house.
He leaped out of his black BMW series 3 convertible and jogged to my side and opened the door for me. He was such a gentleman. He never fails to remind me why I love him in the first place. I got out of the car and started walking a few paces. He closed the door gently behind me. I turned to face him making my hair go along with the motion. I gave him my peculiar smile, biting my lip.
“Thanks, babe” I said offering him my hand. He took it and he dragged me inside the house playfully.
He entered our house without even knocking. I love it because knew that he was already part of the family and he no longer needs to get permission to enter.
“We’re here,” He chirped happily.
“Hey, Jake! Dinner will be ready in five. You don’t mind waiting?” Mom said looking at him with a happy face. She really liked Jake a lot, I mean, who wouldn’t like this perfect boy?
“Of course, not. You know I could wait forever just to have a bite of your cooking,” He said grinning at my mom.
“Oh, you’re such a dear,” my mom said, flattered.
“Hey dude!” Toby greeted him enthusiastically.
Jake let go of my hand and did the hand-shake-bump-pat-in-the-shoulder thing that boys always do when they see each other with my brother. As soon as they finished their “signature move”, he held my hand again. I love how he never forgets about me and my wants and needs.
“What’s up, bro?” He asked my brother with the same level of enthusiasm. My brother was supposed to say a remark when the front door opened. It was my dad who was now home from work.
“Hey, dad.” I greeted him smiling.
I let go of Jake’s hand and gave my dad a hug. “I’ll take this,” I said happily taking his briefcase from him.
“Hey, Phillip,” Jake greeted him with a smile.
They shook hands as a form of greeting. I don’t really get the shaking of the hands thing. I mean, Jake’s practically family and plus the fact that he’s here almost every day so I don’t really get the point of formally shaking hands. But still, boys will be boys.
“Dinner’s ready!” Mom chirped happily.
We made our way to our dining room and happily ate making easy small talk. Jake and Toby blabbered about football, since their practically in the same team, bring occasionally interrupted by my dad asking random questions about football. He’s not really the football type. Mom and I just made side comments about what they were talking about. But basically I made more sense than my mom. ‘Cause the quarterback’s my boyfriend and I watch him play almost every day and mom… well… let’s just say she watches football on TV. We finished eating still continuing sharing stories of our own. And since I am with Jake almost all the time so I know all of the stories he’s telling my family. Jake was well liked by my family which was a total advantage for me. I don’t have to struggle for acceptance unlike most teens. I need to give credit to him, though. He’s made all of this so easy because he was such a polite young man. He cared about his studies and he works hard and plays hard. Just the guy my dad was talking about.
