CHAPTER 1
Blur.
Everything was a surreal blur ever since I and Jake Morgan got together. Everything felt good. My whole world was revolving around him and in fact, he’s my whole world.
The sun was about to set and we were in a park walking hand in hand, admiring the beauty that surrounds us. I looked up at his green eyes and I saw my tomorrow in them. I smiled at him knowing that in my eyes, he saw the same. I was lucky to have him. It was like winning the jackpot in the lottery without even taking my chances of participating. It was like he fell from the sky just for me.
“What’s with that look?” He said as he smirked at me.
“Nothing. I just thought of my luck,” I looked down the ground, smiling. Seriously, how weird was I?
“What about your luck?” He stopped pacing and turned to look at me, not even letting go of my hand.
“I am very lucky… to have you,” I winked at him.
Suddenly, the whole park started to move in a fast forward, cascading motion. It was Iike I was in a trance. Everything went seriously blurred. From my blurry vision, I could see that Jake was dancing in a familiar kind of way and he also sang a part of the chorus of One Direction’s One Thing. Wait, what? Am I seeing or hearing this correctly? Then I heard a loud thump and I instantly snapped my eyes open finding my cell phone on the floor still ringing. I hadn’t realized that Jake was singing One Thing in my dream because my ringtone was set to that song. Okay, that was funny.
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing and vibrating. I forced my eyes open and checked my phone finding myself squinting my eyes because of the sunlight-like light of my phone beaming at me. I checked the clock and was only like 12:05AM. What the heck? Who would call at this time of the day? I am totally pissed off. I was dreaming about Jake, for goodness sake!
The caller was trying to have a video call. I read the caller ID and saw the capitalized letters B, A, another B and a Y. I couldn’t help but smile at seeing his name. Well, I guess actually talking to him was better than just dreaming of him. I stood up and switched the lights on. I closed my eyes roughly. It was as if I was looking right through the sun. Gosh! It was bright! I went back to my bed and sat. My phone was still obnoxiously ringing. I smiled to myself and tapped on answer.
“Hey,” I said sleepily.
“You know what day it is today?” He said ecstatically.
I could see the excitement in his face… his wide grin that’s spread across his face, his teeth shinning like the light of a million suns, his eyes a gorgeous blue and his face a flawless handsome. I looked at the calendar on top of my bedside table and saw that today was the 23rd. Holy shit! We’ve gone through another month!
“Nope. What day is it?” I said pretending to be clueless.
“Come on, baby. Seriously?” He chuckled so he didn’t seem to buy it.
I have always been a terrible liar. I continued with my ‘act’ anyway. “Yep, seriously. I mean, what’s so important about today that you had to wake me up?” I said pretending to be pissed off.
“Okay… so I guess it’s gonna be like that, huh?” He pouted, faking hurt.
Dang it! I have got to improve my lying skills even if he told me a bajillion times not to. He said that it’ll ruin my innocence. I laughed at the thought. Well, I am kind of innocent.
“Happy one year and eight months, baby. I know you know.” He flashed his signature smile at me… the smile I can’t resist, ever.
I giggled in defeat. “Okay, okay. How could I forget? Happy one year and eight months, baby.” I smiled back at him.
