I was not in the mood for anything big today but I know something big is coming and I had to do it today. I went down the stairs in a hurry to get to school. “I’m going,” I looked at Toby already dressed for school. Well that was unusual… at this time of the morning, he’s usually still asleep or he just got up. “Why are you so early?” I raised an eyebrow at him. “Why do you care?” He asked mockingly. “You’re not walking, by the way,” He added with a smirk. “What do you mean not walking? You haven’t eaten breakfast yet and you’re surely not going to drive me to school.” What is up with him? First, he got up early for school. Second, he isn’t driving me to school but he says I am not walking. Third, that smirk is evil.
“Relax, I didn’t set up booby traps or anything,” He let out a chuckle. He must’ve seen my stressed and curious face. “Whatever, I’m going,” I said and walked away. I had no time for his nonsense right now. The sun was shining brightly today. Maybe it’s a sign that I wouldn’t have to deal with much shit today. As usual, I was wrong. Lawrence was waiting in our drive way sitting casually on his motorcycle holding a helmet. I ignored him and carried on my plan, walking. “Hey,” He called but I didn’t look. I heard an engine roar to life and he drifted his rust bucket in front of me. I gasped in shock. “You could have hit me, you scumbag!” I yelled in frustration. Well so much for not dealing with much shit. “I could’ve but I didn’t,” He smirked at me then winked. He threw me the helmet which I didn’t catch. It hit my face the dropped to the ground. I growled. “Don’t you have some other life to ruin? I don’t have time for you, Cooper!” I was already glaring at him but the smile from his face isn’t disappearing yet. “I already had plans for walking today and there is no way that plan would change!” I added as I stomped my way a few blocks and I didn’t hear any crappy motorcycle engine. He didn’t follow me, weird.
I continued walking a few more blocks when someone grabbed my waist from behind. I hastily kicked and punched behind me reflex. My right hook must’ve hit the person who grabbed me. But I felt something hard, like it was not at all human. The person let me go and I looked up at the tall, sculpted person that was Lawrence. I growled in anger. There were creases on my forehead and I was glaring at him. “Don’t you ever do that again, Cooper!” I slapped him as hard as I could and he flexed his jaw. It must’ve hurt. “Sorry,” He muttered. “You see? That’s what you’re good at. You do something bad intentionally then you say sorry like you really mean it. Some crap, Lawrence. I’m fed up,” I walked away but he still followed. I was ignoring him and I checked my watch. Crap! I’m not gonna have enough time to talk to Jake. I scoffed irritated and walked faster.
“You know, if you rode on my bike, you would get to school faster,” Lawrence suggested, tempting me to ride with him. I got tempted in the desperation to talk to Jake. I had missed him so much already and I wanted to clear things out between us… or will there still be an “us”. I would really love to save ten minutes of walking time for Jake time. I stopped pacing and sighed in defeat. “Fine,” I said reluctantly. “Great. I’ll go get it,” I looked back and he was already disappearing from sight. Wow, he ran fast… must from all of the par-something. Less than a minute later, a motorcycle, or at least I think it’s still a motorcycle, came speeding down the road and a second later, it was next to me. “Here’s your helmet,” He handed me a velvet red helmet that fits my head perfectly. Hmm, I wonder why. This doesn’t seem to fit him at all ‘cause it’s too small for his head. “Where’s yours?” I asked in curiosity. “Don’t need one. Helmets are for chumps,” He smirked then patted the seat behind him. I put the helmet on and hopped on behind him, keeping a lot of distance. “You might want to hold on tight,” He looked over his shoulder and smirked. “Are you nuts? Why would I hold on to you?” My voice was muffled inside the helmet so I wasn’t really sure if he understood what I said. “You’ll come to your senses soon,” He let out an evil smirk. Oh my gosh, what have I gotten myself into? “Just shut up and drive,” I ordered as he looked in front and pushed down the kick starter and the engine let out a deafening roar. We bolted at a speed of 70 or 80 mph and I quickly pulled myself to him and hugged him. My hands were on his rock-hard abs and I realized that that was the part I hit earlier. I resisted the urge to feel his sculpted body and just held on for my life.
