I returned to the living room, a plate with pizza on it in each hand. One was cut up, a plastic fork rested next to the re-sized pieces. I set that plate down in front of Mason, taking the toy out of his hand.
“Eat” I ordered, poking the fork into a piece of pizza. I set the fork in his hand, directing it to his mouth. Mason ate the pizza, hungrily, throwing the fork on the ground and grabbing with his hands. I rolled my eyes, sitting on the couch.I set the plate on my lap, picking up my own piece of pizza. Caden looked at me curiously as I bit into the thawed delight.
“What?” I asked through a mouthful of chewed-up pizza.
He frowned “Where’s my piece?”
I nodded to the kitchen “Get it yourself”
He rolled his eyes, getting up and leaving for the kitchen. I looked back at Mason who had pizza sauce all over his face. I giggled, rolling my eyes
“Fork” I said, pointing to the discarded utensil next to him. He looked down at it, picking it up.
“Fork!” He repeated, showing me.
“You eat with the fork, Mase” I smiled, taking another bite of the pizza. He looked at me, before throwing the fork back on the floor.
I laughed, a hand covering my mouth.
“Was that a giggle I just heard?” Caden smirked, entering the room. He took a seat next to me on the couch.
I rolled my eyes, scooting away “Go away”
“Oh come on, I was just teasing”
“I wasn’t”
“You’re so mean to me, pumpkin”
I groaned, leaning against the back of the couch “Get over it”
He chuckled, finishing the rest of his pizza. I set my empty plate on top of his, resting my arm against the arm rest.
“What’s this for?”
“I made dinner, now you clean these dishes”
“Really Joanna really?” he sighed, his eyes pleading with me to have mercy.
I shrugged “That’s how it goes”
He groaned, standing up and walking into the kitchen.
“Hey! Get a napkin while you’re at it!” I called to him, knowing he would hear.
“Why?” He called back.
“Mason needs it”
I got off the couch, sitting over by my baby brother. He grinned at me, his face covered in his food. I sighed; grabbing the fork and helping him eat the rest of his dinner. Mason took the fork, directing to food towards me.
I smiled “No, silly, you get to eat it!”
He shook his head.
“Mason” I sighed, my face getting serious. “Eat your dinner”
“No!” he whined, crossing his little arms
“Don’t make me come after you” I said in a playful but threatening voice “Or I might end up tickling you!”
I ran my fingers softly at his belly, causing him to go into a fit of giggles. Mason fell on his back, squirming away from my touch.
I stopped, holding my hands up for him to see. “Are you going to eat your dinner now?”
