Chapter 14

Nico smiled softly in his sleep, snuggling closer to his boyfriend. It was amazing- how their lives were so messed up, but they still got beautiful little moments, where everything was perfect. It was amazing.

A few hours after Will had fallen asleep, Nico's expression changed from peaceful to immensely frightened.

In his dream he was back there. In the pit. Tartarus. But this time, it wasn't just him and the monsters like usual. Will... Will was there too... wait... Will, no!

Will was there, crippled on the ground, being tortured by the titans. Nico tried to run, to scream, to save him. But he couldn't move, he couldn't make a sound.

He looked down at himself and he was... gone. Faded.

In the real world, Nico was thrashing and sobbing hysterically as he had to watch the boy who held his heart be tortured. And he had no power to stop it. He couldn't wake up. He could only watch.

Will was woken up by the sobs and screams. He wrapped his arms around Nico's thrashing figure and held him down. The twitching stopped completely after about 15 minutes.

Will rocked Nico back and forth in a hypnotic rhythm. He kissed his temple. He knew his voice was trash, but he sang to him anyway.

"Where the north wind meets the sea~." He whispered, remembering the lullaby from Frozen 2.

"There's a river, full of memory. Sleep, my darling, safe and sound. For in this river, all is found~"

Nico started to relax in his arms. Will smiled and went on.

"In her waters, deep and true. Lie the answers, and a path for you. Dive down deep into her sound. But not too far, or you'll be drowned."

Will shook his head. Creepy line for a lullaby, Disney.

"Yes, she will sing to those who hear. And in her song, all magic flows. But can you brave what you most fear? Can you face what the river knows?"

Little did he know Hades was listening from outside the door.

"Where the north wind, meets the sea. There's a mother, full of memory. Come, my darling, homeward bound. When all is lost, then all is found."

Will kissed Nico's head and hugged him closer. "I love you."

Nico took a shaky breath, before starting to sing along as Will started to repeat the song.

"Where the north wind... meets the sea..." he sang quietly.

Singing had always been comforting to him, ever since he was a child. Bianca has always sung to him when they were younger, and he would sing with her and their mother. Nico actually had an amazing singing voice, but he was self conscious about it, so no one really knew.

"There's a river... full of memory... sleep my darling.... safe and sound... for in this river... all is found."

Will kissed his forehead. "It's ok. What happened?"

Nico shook his head. "Not right now." He snuggled into Will's chest, wiping the dried, sticky tear residue from his face. Will hugged him.

"Ok." He noticed Hades' eye from the crack. He put his chin on the god's son's head, and smiled softly before returning his attention to the important person in the room. He could have sworn his heard a gruff, 'Alright!' before a rustle of robes told him that Hades had gone.

Hm. At least it was praise.
