Smile Like The Sun [COMPLETED]

Chapter 15

Nico had calmed down, falling back asleep, snuggled up to Will with a tiny smile spread across his face. Will kissed Nico's forehead lightly. He lay him down on the bed, and put his own thin jacket over him. He felt that it would be smart to at least have something that smelled like him if he couldn't have the real thing.

Then he went to tell the lord of the dead about their departure.

Just as Will was walking to meet Hades, the god melted out of the shadows, appearing silently behind the son of Apollo. Will heard footsteps behind him, and turned. He was expecting a skeleton guard. 

Nope. Just his boyfriend's dad.

Even more terrifying.

Hades approached the boy cautiously, a burning question in the forefront of his mind.

"What... what happened last night?" he asked, concerned for his son. Will bit his lip.

"He had a nightmare, I'm assuming. He doesn't want to talk about it right now, so I just calmed him down. As you saw."

Hades let out a sigh. "They're still happening then."

Will was shocked. "Still? Nightmares that make him sob and scream are frequent?"

The lord of the dead nodded miserably. "Not as much anymore... once he made the decision to stay at Camp Half Blood, they almost stopped completely. Right around the time he met you, come to think of it..." Hades sighed sadly. "But Tartarus does things to people that I can't even begin to describe."

A few rooms over, Nico was still peacefully sleeping.

Will looked down. "I'm sorry. That you had to just watch him, not being able to help."

He suddenly stared the god in the eye. "I won't let it happen again." He almost turned, then remembered the real reason he had left Nico alone.

"We're leaving in the morning, by the way. Thanks. For helping him."

And he slowly walked towards the room again.

Hades smiled, melting into the shadows once again. He never could've found someone better for his son than Will.

Will walked into the room, smiling at his boyfriends calm, sleeping figure. Nico, in his sleep, had grabbed Will's jacket and pulled it closer. Will softly laughed. He brushed Nico's hair from his face, softly kissing the top of his head.

He sat down on the floor, and patiently waited for Nico to wake up.

He did, eventually. Nico went to wrap his arms around Will, and got disappointed when he came up empty handed. A small pout was drawn across his face as he looked around the room for his boyfriend, who had hid under the bed to try and scare Nico.

Will accidentally gave himself away by giggling. Nico whipped the bed sheets away, and wiggled under the bed with him.

"Hi," Will giggled, pecking his cheek. They both burst into laughter, and slowly tried to escape from under the bed.

"Ok," Will said, calming down. "You ready to go?" He grasped Nico's hand.

Nico nodded, a soft smile pressed onto his lips. "Yeah... sorry if Dad gave you a hard time..."

Will shrugged. "It's fine. It was good. Sorta." He quickly explained at Nico's confused expression.

"Like, it was good because I saw that he cares about you! Like, a lot. Even if you don't see it, he does. He was worried about you."

He smiled at Nico's little grin. "Let's go say goodbye, shall we?"

Nico grinned shyly, biting his lip and nodding. Will led him out, finding Hades and Persephone waiting by the gates.
