chapter ten
♟
"GOOD MORNING, PEOPLE!"
The neighborhood was surprised when there was a loud squeal that woke them up in the dawn of the day. One by one, they popped their heads out of their bedroom windows only to catch sight of a certain (h/c) haired girl prancing around her front yard.
Some were furious that their sleep was disturbed while the others were actually greeting back. Nevertheless, the young woman still retained her bubbly attitude before entering her mundane house.
She grabbed her towel from the clothesline and wrapped it around her body despite it being clothed. Her feet slid towards her dusty marble floor as she took a glass of water from the refrigerator for her to use in brushing her teeth. Before going inside her comfort room, she went to her phone first to check again if what she read a few minutes ago was real.
She gently placed her phone back on top of the desk and excitedly skipped her way towards the comfort room. Since Daisuke will not be bossing her around today, she has the whole day to her self.
This is probably one of the best days of her life.
After successfully persuading her self to not drink the mixture of saliva and toothpaste in her mouth, she directly proceeded to do the rest of her morning routine which was done in under thirty minutes tops.
She wanted to deliver the papers to the office immediately so that she'll be able to goof off later on without any supervision. In complete buoyancy, she hopped her way out of her home and towards the bus stop.
It took about three-fourth of an hour for her to arrive in the police department building but she didn't mind tho, she was in a really good mood and every passenger in the bus could tell that because of her contagious yet exaggerated grin. As she took a step out of the public utility vehicle, her sight was caught by a brunette who's currently sipping a cup of coffee outside the building.
Haru noticed the young woman's arrival and he was confused to see her face beaming up upon seeing him. She waved giddily at him before jogging her way towards him. His mesmerizing golden hued eyes stared at her (e/c) ones while he tried to process if this was the real grumpy (Y/N) that he knew so well.
"Who are you and what did you do to (Y/N)?" The brunette chortled, laughing at his overused corny joke that he was proud of. (Y/N) pursed her lips and rolled the free magazine that she snooped from the bus before hitting Haru's head with it.
"You always spat some boring old dad jokes yet nobody calls you daddy."
•••
Daisuke twirled his finely-made pen on his fingers while listening to the tapping of one of his staff's feet on the hallway. The flight from Japan towards Chicago takes at least 17 hours but since he used the family's jet aircraft, the travel time was minimized.
Currently, the time is around 1 PM in the place that he was in. The first meeting adjourned just an hour and a half after it started and now he has nothing to do but to wait until the next conference.
He glanced at the glass window of the building he's in which overlooks the fascinating skyscrapers of the city. His sight scanned the vehicles that passed one by one on the busy streets below. They all looked so small since he was in the sixtieth floor, his ice-blue irises squinting to take note of the different colors of the car.
The ravenette plopped his self back on the office chair provided in his room for the day. His staff asked him if she could get him anything to which he responded with an I'm fine followed by a simple thank you. The middle aged woman smiled before excusing herself to exit the room so he could have some time by his self.
Silence. For a long time, Daisuke never found his self in a secluded place that has been this quiet. It was peculiar for him to think that he actually wanted someone to just disrupt the place and break the nerve-wrecking tranquility. He was so used to someone's non-stop blabbering that even if he found it irritating, he would want to hear it over and over again.
(Y/N).
He mentally laughed at his self for randomly thinking about her when the word noisy popped out of his mind. Listening to her continuous nagging and casual mentioning of weird, bizarre topics has been a part of his everyday routine for the past year... And now, it feels unusual to finish a day without him hearing her annoying muttering.
Daisuke cleared his throat as he realized that he looked like some madman for smiling alone in the room for no reason. He fixed his composure before contacting his butler to call a certain (h/c) haired young woman.
(Y/N), on the other hand, bumped her head on the bed's headboard after being forced to wake up because of the violent ringing of her phone. With the heaviness of her eye bags, she tried to look at her desk clock which displays the time of 3:15 AM. Out of irritation, she grabbed her phone and turned the call down.
Just seconds later after she declined to receive the call, it rang once again. She kept on turning it down but the caller would then give another shot. The process went on for awhile and the young woman, alas, accidentally tapped the answer button. With a defeated grunt, she pressed her phone against her ear.
"DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT TIME IT IS IN THIS AREA?"
Daisuke blinked his eyes after successfully getting the woman to respond to his call after almost thirty tries, realizing afterwards that he has nothing to say to her. It took him a few seconds to finally speak up and confront the groggy-voiced girl from the other side of the line.
"I'm sorry to call so suddenly.. but I would like to follow up on the papers that I told you to submit in the department office."
(Y/N) tried to calm her self as she slapped her cheeks to keep her self awake. Her teeth gritted against each other, her words desperately attempting to pass through the small opening of her lips while she spoke.
"Yes, I did. Anything else?" The ravenette paused for a moment before responding to her question, tapping his fingers on top of the arm of the seat.
"Nothing so far."
"Okay then. Good day." A satisfied sigh crawled out of her tired self as she ended the call and placed her phone beside her, resuming to her comfortable lying on her precious bed.
She heaved in a barrel of air while feeling the loving arms of the foam wrapping the fragility of her body. The ambiance in her room is so calm, the breeze of dawn lingering on each and every corner. However, this was disrupted with the aggressive ringing of her phone once again.
Her eyes snapped open in complete anger as she immediately checked on who it was for the second time, powering her phone off afterwards despite it still chiming with her annoying custom ringtone. She plopped back to her bed after shoving her phone below her pillow.
Just as she was about to give her self a chance to get a shut-eye, her telephone that was placed in her living room started to ring. An exhausted and furious scream was released from her now chapped lips as she repeatedly slammed her head on the pillow.
"GODDAMN IT KAMBE, LET ME SLEEP!"
It was just then she realized that it wasn't the telephone but rather her alarm clock that she forgot to reset.
