The young woman took a good long sip on her sugar-free vanilla bean  frappuccino, Haru sitting beside her. He occasionally gazed at the drink that was wrapped around her fingers in great amazement and the (h/c) haired girl noticed it. She glared at the man as she defensively covered her frappe by putting it behind her.

"Hey, eyes off my child." Haru huffed playfully with her attitude, shoving his hand in the bag of chips that he got from their office's snack lounge.

"It's a miracle that you bought something expensive.. that must've cost a lot." He pointed towards the high-priced looking cup that holds the drink that the girl was sipping from.

(Y/N) paused to think for awhile, remembering the fact that she just took the drink from the department's table since she thinks no one owns it. Before anyone can judge, she actually waited for a few hours for anyone to return and get the drink. She has been eyeing on it frequently in order for her to confirm that the owner will not be back.

Welp, finders keepers, losers weepers they say.

"None of your business, bud." The brunette pursed his lips before placing another chip in his mouth.

The police department's office in this very moment was silent. Almost everyone has already went on their own personal lives since it was way past the working hours. It was pretty much relaxing to think that the place is not crowded anymore. The reason why (Y/N) still hasn't left is because Daisuke is currently in a meeting and unfortunately, she's not working for the department.

She's working for the ravenette.

"Still.. thanks for sticking with me." She continued, playfully nudging the boy on his side. Haru cleared his throat as he attempted to hide his bashful  reaction towards the simple gratitude that the young woman showcased.

"W..Who told you that I'm staying late to aid you? I'm aiming for the overtime pay, don't feel special." Her eyebrow immediately rose with the defensive statement that he spatted nervously. She ignored him and stood up from the sofa, proceeding towards the door.

"H-Hey! I-I was just kidding, (Y/N)! Lighten up a little." Haru said in panic as he now stood up and waved his hands frantically. The young woman sarcastically laughed at his lame excuse before going back to sitting.

"Do you have a pet?" The brunette blinked on her sudden question that came out of nowhere as he reached for the back of his neck and shyly scratched it.

"Why'd you ask?"

"I don't know... I suddenly want to adopt one." Despite the spontaneous topic, he was still comfortable to continue the conversation.

"What kind of pet would you like though?" Her mood brightened up after noticing that Haru was interested in what they were talking about. She fidgeted with the sling of her bag while trying to contain the excitement that she was feeling.

"Any kind.. I want it to be very hyper. You know, the type that runs around for hours and then suddenly hops on your lap for no reason... something that could for sure live up the house." Haru teasingly pouted as he childishly crossed his arms to look some kind of a superior mother.

"That just sounds like a translation for I'm lonely and I want a- AH QUIT IT!" The boy wasn't able to finish his sentence since (Y/N) already pinched his earlobe and pulled it to which he flinched in pain.

Everything was so harmonious; the clock ticking in a calming pace as the wind mildly caressed the inanimate objects sitting on her mundane-spaced room. The grip that she had on her comforter tightened while she sunk even deeper in the loving arms of her mattress.

Her trip to dreamland was shortened after hearing the abrupt and loud ringing of her hated alarm clock. A huge amount of air poked out of her lips as she fluttered her eyes open.

"WHAT THE-"

In a split second, a horrendous scream came out of her throat after witnessing a chicken staring down at her. As if aiming for synchronization, the animal also chortled before fleeing away from her headboard and into her carpeted floor.

(Y/N) clutched on her blanket in complete confusion and shock, staring mindlessly on the chicken that was running around in circles beside her bed. She tried to process how it went inside her bedroom and why there was a live chicken in her house.

Her (e/c) orbs blinked consecutively after noticing that the animal has a collar hanging loosely around its neck as if it was a puppy. She slowly went out of her bed and made her way towards the still circling chicken before picking it up gently. Thankfully, it did not went wild when she carried and petted its head. With the chicken still on her arms, she went out of her room to look for answers on the questions in her mind.

A disappointed groan slipped out of her after taking note that her living room is in a bad state; some of her figurines were broken, feathers were scattered everywhere and her once pristine white sofa was full of chicken foot prints.

Her eyes landed on her doggy door, realizing that maybe it is through there that the chicken was able to infiltrate her humble home. However, upon closer inspection, she noticed a small envelope placed just a few inches away from the door.

She put the chicken down first before going to the letter, opening it and reading its content. In an instant, a gloomy expression conquered her face as she was scanning on the words one by one.

"That piece of- I WILL KILL YOU, KATO HARU!"
