Cold. It was freezing. The building had been frozen by the one and only, Todoroki Shoto. I cursed under my breath. It wasn't fair that he was born with fire and ice powers. I grumbled, teleporting our of my predicament. We were doing a heroes vs villains game.
I felt bad for Ojiro, knowing that if I teleported him out, the skin of his feet would be ripped off. I had no choice but to teleport straight to Todoroki. Kicking him from behind. His eyes widened, but he didn't have enough time to react, causing him to fly back, conjuring up an ice wall behind him so that he wouldn't fly into the wall. My eyes held a spark of determination. I hated the number 2 hero with a passion. If I could beat his son, then I could be ready to take on the fire giant himself. Todoroki immediately recovered, signaling for his teammate to stay back and to find the weapon instead. I sighed. I would have to take out Shoji first if I wanted to do anything. I teleported all around him, distracting him while getting a few hits in. Both boys were tough opponents, but if I didn't take out Shoji, then my epic battle with Endeavour's some would be useless. I hit him with the finishing blow, wrapping him with the tape that we were given to capture the opponents. Shoji had a good quirk, but I managed to stay in his blind spot, leading me to victory.
I returned to Todoroki, who was trying to find the missile. I quickly teleported to Ojiro and inspected his freezing feet. I had an idea. I teleported to Todoroki, smirking.
"Hey, Candy Cane Reject! If we're playing fair, then at least unfreeze the floor here!" I glared.
I'm pretty sure he knew I was challenging him to a duel. He proceeded to heat up the floor on our floor, but I quickly teleported him to Ojiro for a second, which was dangerous as he was next to the missile, which unfroze his feet from the floor. His reaction time was fast. He was about to touch the missile, but I teleported him back to the ground level. He frowned and my dirty trick, but nonetheless, he complimented me.
"It was smart to try to help your teammate and unfreeze him by taking advantage of me. It was too fast for me to react, and certainly unexpected. Good job, " he praised.
I raised an eyebrow. That was until I heard his next statement, which was far from the acknowledgment that he had given me.
"However, in the end, it doesn't really matter, as I am the one who will win, " he said in a dull voice, barren of emotion. It wasn't full of arrogance, but neither was it full of sarcasm. It sent chills down my spine. What was this weapon of a child that the number 2 hero brought up?
"Bring it on, knockoff Elsa, " I said, grinning.
I examined his physique, but I found no weaknesses. He was an all-rounded person. He started throwing glaciers at me, sometimes throwing icicles in his hand. Then it clicked. He avoided using his left side, his fireside. Maybe it was his daddy issues, but nevertheless, it was a blind spot.
I continuously hit him on his left side. He froze my shoulder, which probably had frostbite by now. I taunted him, trying to distract him, but teleporting was a whole lot harder when my body was weakened by the cold. He got quite a few hits off of me, but I endured, for he was in a far worse condition than me. Finally, I pushed off the floor, punching the side of his face. It rotated too fast, shocking his brain, knocking him unconscious. I quickly tied him up with the tape, panting at the exercise that just happened.
"Ojiro and Yumé win!" All Might announced through the speakers.
I threw my hands up in victory. I had beaten Icythot. I teleported to the roof, shouting at the top of my voice
"In your face, Peppermint Boi!" I screamed, before passing out in shock from the pain of the frostbite.
My unconscious body plummeted to the ground, headfirst. The last person I saw before death was Todoroki, which was not very pleasant to know when you die.
•
I was surrounded by darkness. Was this what hell was like? Then, I realized that I wasn't dead. I groaned as the pain hit my body, stirring from my unconscious state. In the infirmary, there was Deku, Todoroki, and the school nurse, Recovery Girl.
I sat up groggily, the discomfort shooting up my body. I didn't remember what happened to me, or how I ended up in the all-white room. I only remember beating Todoroki.
"What... happened?" I asked hesitantly, not sure if I wanted to know.
"You teleported to the top of the building. If just so happened that you went into shock after you teleported, causing you to fall down the building. If All Might hadn't rushed to the scene, you would have sustained many injuries, or worse, died, " the old woman reprimanded me.
I held my head low. I could have died if All Might didn't save me. Now, I saw the number 1 hero in a new light. Not just a hero who saves lives every day, but as a hero who saved my life that day.
•
I grunted in pain as I tried to use my left shoulder to push myself off the bed. It seemed like Todoroki had already gone home, while Midoriya was being released at the same time as me. A hint of a smile was on my face. I got to walk home with my friend. We chatted happily about the eventful day.
"What do you think of All Might?" Midoriya asked out of the blue.
"He is the man who saved my life today, " I said.
"I think that All Might may not always be around to protect us and that there will always be unrest in the world. I want to do my part and help those in need. I want to be a person who people can look to if they need help. I want to be a hero in their eyes, " I said, twiddling my fingers. I didn't want him to judge me.
"I think it's a noble cause, " Midoriya said, giving me a thumbs up and a smile. I felt a warm feeling inside me.
I felt grateful that someone understood. On the other hand, I cringed at my recklessness, vowing to myself never to do dumb stuff like that ever again.
