Yeah! Todoroki-kun and Yumé-san are so cute tgt! What had Ochaco done this time? I rolled my eyes as I read the conversation. Oh hell no, she did not... I opened up the image and my face turned as red as a tomato. It was a photo of me and Shoto sharing earphones, and me leaning slightly closer to him to show him the different songs he could pick from. To my relief, Shoto didn't look at the picture yet, and was still listening to the music playing on my earbuds.
I used my hands to cover my pink-tinted cheeks, hiding my blush from my classmates. I swear, I loved Ochaco, but I was going to kill her later for that. Shoto looked over and noticed me in my daze, probably wondering why I was covering my cheeks. I removed my hands from my cheeks, pulling it off as warming my cheeks up. When he turned back around and stop staring at me, I let out a soft sigh of relief inaudible to Shoto. I looked behind my seat, glaring holes into Ochaco, which she only smiled back deviously, causing me to glare harder at her, if that was even humanly possible.
I leaned my elbow on the ledge of the bus' window, resting my head on my hand, gazing longingly at the forest surrounding us. It wouldn't hurt to take a short nap... Would it? My eyelids got heavier and heavier, and soon enough, I was fast asleep.
••
The bus jolted up, causing people to jostle in their seats. Shoto was still listening to the music on Sakura's earphones, when suddenly someone's head fell onto his shoulder. Someone's head? His neck snapped to the right, so rapidly that he himself thought he was going to get whiplash. Sure enough, Sakura's head lolled on his shoulder, causing his face to heat up. What was this? Why had no one thought him this? Where was the handbook for making friends? Someone should have given him 'Friendship 101', because he was internally dying. No one mentioned that he would feel like this if someone put their head on his shoulder! This was something that he had heard of, and experiencing it for the first time was enough to get the emergency alarm blaring in his head. He was sure as hell that he was about to die, then and there.
For a second, he stopped overreacting and thought about it logically. He could just push her head off, right? Yeah, that would work. He gently nudged Sakura's head off his shoulder, but to no avail. He sighed. He guessed it wasn't that bad, since he kind of liked the soft feel in his heart that he was feeling. He closed his eyes for a second, relaxing in his seat. Everything would be just fine. He stroked her hair, resting his head on hers.
Meanwhile, Izuku's constant muttering did not cease. His writing only got faster when Sakura fell asleep on Shoto. And when Shoto finally accepted it and leaned back, Izuku was jotting everything down at the speed of light. At the same time, Ochaco was busy snapping pictures of Sakura and Shoto on her phone. She couldn't help it, it was too cute! It felt like some cheesy romance drama, and Ochaco was living for it. Shoto getting flustered over Sakura's head on his shoulder? She was here for the tea, sis.
••
My eyelids fluttered open, and the first thing that I noticed was that my head was leaning on something on my left, which definitely was not the window. I quickly pushed myself off, stuttering apologies for that unfortunate incident. I mentally slapped myself. What the hell was I doing? When I got off of Shoto's shoulder, he almost seemed... Disappointed? Only for a split second, before he went back to normal, listening to my music. I sighed to myself boys and feelings were so complicated, and it didn't help that Shoto had literally been isolated from society and was forced to be a tool for his father to beat All Might. I wasn't dumb, I knew that Endeavor had his child so that it could be the number one hero. It was unfortunate that Shoto had to be on the receiving end of that.
I sighed, scrolling through my playlist, clicking on a random song. I needed to cool off for a while. My brain literally could not function properly when thinking about all these kinds of things. Loud music started blasting into the ear which my earbud was on, and I nodded my head to the rhythm, mouthing out the lyrics of the song, occasionally making weird hand gestures while lip-syncing the song.
I feel like a hero, and you're my heroine, no.
My face lit up, and I immediately felt better. It was just one of those things where you have a certain connection to something that made you feel relaxed. For example, even though my voice sounded like nails against a blackboard, I still liked to sing and listen to music as a hobby. I felt Shoto's eyes on me, but I didn't really care. No one could judge me for liking certain types of music, and he could just pass me back my earbuds anyways.
I continued my lip-syncing without a care in the world, until I heard Shoto's voice say the one word I never expected him to say.
"Cute, "
I froze. Did he just call me cute? I shook my head. He probably saw something out of the window, like a cat or something. He could never be referring to me, I was hideous as hell, and me jumping around in my seat was definitely not cute. Maybe he saw Yaoyorozu's reflection in the glass, cause she is definitely cute, unlike me. I huffed at my thoughts. How could one word get me so worked up like that?
"No you, " I blurted out before I had time to think about it.
Did I just call him cute back?
