Chapter 19

"Don't stay awake for too long"-Powfu

(Johnny's POV)
We finally left after Annie came down and a little argument about makeup. We were in the car talking amongst each other. Although Annie was pretty quiet. Asher seemed to notice too.

Asher: Hey Ann's are you ok?
Annie: Yea why wouldn't I be?

(Annie's POV)
I forced a smile.

Asher: You don't look ok. That's why.
Annie: Oh well im fine.

I said, faking another smile. Just as Asher was about to say something else,

Jayden: We're here! At the gas station.
Kenzie: Jay-Jay! You can't get me excited like that!
Jayden: Sorry! Just let me put gas.
Kenzie: Fine, im going to the restroom, anyone else?

I raised my hand.

Kenzie: Ok cmon lets go.

We made our way out of the car and into the gas station. We were done using the restroom and we were washing our hands when the one and only showed up. Nadia.

Nadia: Hey b-
Kenzie: What do you want?
Nadia: Just a chat.

Nadia said with an innocent smile. Kenzie stood next to me.

Nadia: But its with miss Julianna.
Kenzie: I don't care say it right here, right now.
Nadia: Ok.

She shrugged her shoulders.

Nadia: How's your father? Oh wait, he's in jail. How do you feel about that?

I opened my mouth but nothing was coming out of it.

Nadia: Still mute I see? I'll make you speak.

Nobody was in the restrooms so it was just us. Nadia shoved me against the wall and grabbed the sides of my face. All the memories started flooding back. My friends we're doing great at keeping me from thinking about that. But this, why today? Out of all days, why today? Why did I let myself trust?! Im so stupid. I felt my breathing hitch.

Nadia: Aww is Annie scared?

Kenzie ripped Nadia off of me. Nadia was about to come back but somebody walked into the restroom. So the freckle faced girl left.

Kenzie: Are you ok?

Everything was getting blurrier as my breathing became fast and unstable. Kenzie lifted me up and took me outside. We ended up in the car and I think everyone was bombarding me with questions but I couldn't understand them. My fast and unstable breathing soon became gasps for air.

(Asher's POV)
I knew how to calm people who were having panic or anxiety attacks. But nobody would shut up.

Asher: SHUT UP!

Everyone shut their mouths and Annie flinched at the yelling.

Asher: Hey look... Annie, you're ok. Everything is going to be okay.

It wasn't working as she kept gasping fkr air. I pulled her into a hug and she flinched at the touch. Why is this happening now? She nuzzled her head into my chest.

Asher: Ok, now listen to my heartbeat. Take a few deep breaths. Like this.

I started inhaling and exhaling. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Soon i felt her calm down and her breathing much more stable. She broke down and started crying into my chest as i stroked her hair.

Annie: Im- Im sorry. Im such a burden.

I pulled away from her, cupping the sides of her face, and looked into her beautiful brown eyes.

Asher: You're not a burden.

(Annie's POV)
Asher was able to calm me down but now I was a complete mess. Soon enough I stopped crying and cleaned myself up. I had no makeup on anymore.

Anna: Hey you look great without makeup.

I nodded my head. We arrived at the place where we were going to eat. I wasn't hungry.

Annie: Hey guys im not hungry so-
Anna: You're eating.
Asher: Yes, you are.
Annie: Fine...

We ordered food and ate. Well i only ate a little bit but then Anna gave me a look saying 'You better eat all of that'. I sighed in defeat and finished my plate. We all finished and split the bill. Well, the boys did. They all wanted to pay so they just split the bill between themselves.
