JEFF'S POV

I started to get nervous as I felt Phoenix pass out in my arms. I gently placed her down on the couch and turned to Slender. I could feel the curiosity and shock radiating from him when he first saw Phoenix, and I saw her look at Slender a few times. I didn't have a doubt that she knew exactly who she was looking at. "Is she gonna be..."

She will be fine, said Slender, but from what she managed to communicate with me...

"Wait, she did?" I asked in surprise.

Yes, I saw everything, Slender replied. Now let me finish. She has been through a terrible ordeal, and must be taken care of immediately. Obviously we must bathe her and warm her up, because she's freezing. You know where she lived, because I have a strong suspicion this is who you have been visiting for the last few months. Go there, and get her a change of clothes. When she's in bed, I want you to burn anything that came in contact with that mixture.

"Can she stay?" I blurted out and felt my face turn red. "I don't want her going back, and I know she doesn't either." I was extremely embarassed. Did I just ask Slender if the object of my supposed affection could stay with us? Thankfully, he didn't take it that way.

You have brought her here, Jeffrey, and she must stay, lest she tell everyone who we are and what she saw. I will send for Clockwork. He walked off grumbling; it was a well known fact that he and Clockwork weren't exactly the best of friends.

The instant he was gone I took off back towards the home and climbed the tree through Phoenix's window. Her four tormentors were in her room, and some of her clothes were on a pile on the floor. One of the girls still had a lighter. I rapped on the window, and all four of them jumped. I was pleased to see the same look of terror on their faces, and they had no trouble recognizing me.

"Keep your filthy hands off her stuff," I snarled. "If I ever see you in her room again, I will slit your pretty little necks one by one." I waved my knife in front of my face to emphasize my point. "You will get out of her room, and you will never come in here again. I was never here. Do you understand?" They all nodded and rushed out of the room.

I grabbed a couple pairs of clothes and some pjs, put them in a paper bag, and then went in her closet and grabbed her sword cases and dagger case. I jumped down from the window and ran back as fast as I could.

CLOCKWORK'S POV

You can imagine my surprise when Slenderbutt teleported in my room and said he required my assistance. We don't really like each other, and usually he doesn't talk to me unless he really needs to. He led me downstairs, and I followed him, extremely curious.

When I walked in the living room, the first thing I noticed was the pale, black haired, petite girl curled up on an old white sheet on the huge ass leather couch. Her eyes were closed, and she was slightly shivering. The smell coming from her  was horrible. Was that bleach?

I looked at Slender curiously. "Who is she?"

She is Jeffery's secret friend, the one he's been sneaking around to visit, he answered.

So that's where Jeff's been going. I wrinkled my nose against the smell as I leaned in and examined the girl closer. She was extremely pretty. "What happened to her?"

The same thing that happened to him, although he got to her before she could be set on fire, he answered. Apparently she was cornered by four girls, severely beaten, and doused with bleach and whiskey. She passed out shortly after he brought her here. I need you to clean her up and find a room for her, because she'll be staying. He picked her up and carried her upstairs, where he set her on a table in one of the spare rooms. I think a sponge bath would be the best idea here.

The instant he was gone, I got to work. I peeled off her clothes and put them in a plastic bag, then I sponged her clean with soap and hot water. When she was clean and you couldn't smell a hint of bleach on her, I wrapped her in a towel. A few minutes later, Jeff showed up with some clothes and several wooden cases. "Where do you want these?" he asked.

I was confused, but I said, "Put them in the room next to mine, then come help me." While he was doing that I rooted through the bag, then dressed the girl in fresh socks and underwear, grey sweatpants, and a black AC/DC shirt. Jeff helped me carry her to the room, and I placed her under the blankets. She smiled in her sleep.

I want to know her, I thought as I closed the door behind me.
