Phoenix's Confession

PHOENIX'S POV

Jeff spent the next few days in my room, up to something. He wouldn't tell me what it was, though, just that it was a surprise. He requested that I sleep on the couch until he was done, so Smile kept me company. I wasn't complaining though. The couch was big. And comfy. And there was Smile.

Still, I was wondering how the hell Jeff was going to react if I told him I loved him. I was so stressed out about it that I was losing sleep. A week after Jeff started his mysterious project, I was sitting on the couch sobbing because of my stupid romantic feelings that were unrequited. We're best friends, and that's probably all we'll ever be. And I should be happy with that. But I felt selfish, because I wasn't happy.

Smile heard me crying and sat in front of me whimpering. Slender and Clocky noticed and sat beside me while I pet Smile.

What troubles you, child? asked Slender.

"Yeah, whats the matter Phoenix?" said Clocky. "Did we...did we do anything?"

I raised my head and wiped my eyes. "Yeah, I'm just...lonely, I guess."

"Don't you like us?" asked Clocky, her lip trembling.

"Yes!" I said, hugging Clocky. "I didn't mean lonely like that, I meant lonely like...I don't know. I still have romantic feelings. And I want somebody to love me."

Do you have your eye on anyone, Miss Phoenix? asked Slender curiously.

I sighed. "Yes...and he lives here. I've liked him for a while, actually."

If I may ask, Miss Phoenix, who is it you speak of? inquired Slender.

"Yeah, who is it?" pressed Clocky.

I exhaled again. "It's...Jeff. I'm in love with Jeff." Clocky and Slender looked at each other in surprise, and Clocky clapped a hand to her mouth.

"Jeff? Are you sure?" asked Clocky.

"Yeah," I said. "But...isn't he too insane for that? I mean...I wanna tell him...but I'm scared."

Slender laughed. Jeffery is actually more human then people make him out to be. In fact, when he's with you, he's the happiest I've seen him.

"He is?" I asked.

Clocky laughed. "It's true. I've never seen him this happy the whole time I've known him...and that's a long time."

"So what do you think I should do?"

You need not do anything, Miss Phoenix. I'm sure Jeff will show you soon enough, said Slender, giving Clocky a long look before getting up and teleporting away.

"Give Jeff a chance. Who knows, he might surprise you," said Clocky with a wierd look in her eyes; it was almost like excitement. She got up and walked upstairs
