JEFF'S POV
A few minutes later, Clocky came out of Phoenix's room. "Is she okay?" I asked nervously.
"She's fine. She's -resting now," said Clocky. "Now all we have to do is wait until she wakes up." She frowned, and looked at my chest. "Jeff, your hoodie is soaked."
I looked down at my black hoodie. It was filled with brown streaks from the bleach. Oh well, I wouldn't be needing it anymore anyway. I tossed it in the baggie along with Phoenix's soiled clothes and the white sheet that she was laying on. Clocky pointed to the baggie. "What does Slender want us to do with those?"
"Burn them. How ironic," I laughed. We walked outside, and tossed them on the ground. Clocky lit the match, because she knew I was afraid of fire. When we got it roaring, Clocky turned to me, arms crossed. "An explanation would be nice here, Jeff."
"What?" I said, turning to her. She rolled her eyes and gave me her signature stop acting so stupid look.
"Jeff, please. For the past two months and a half you have been sneaking out-sometimes in broad daylight, I might add- to meet this girl. No one knew where you were, or where you were going. Then you show up at random with her unconcious and soaked. Who is she, and why is she so special?"
I sighed, but knew I had to tell the truth; I never lie to Clocky. She's like my sister. "Her name is Phoenix. Originally, she was going to be one of my victims...but her fearlessness...it just stopped me cold. It was like she knew what was coming and she wasn't afraid...it was like she welcomed it. Then...I don't know...we just started talking and the more we hung out the more I liked her." I shrugged. "She's...special." My voice embarassingly cracked on the word "special" and my face turned bright red (yes, it can still do that.)
Clocky noticed, and she smirked and nudged me in the side. "Come on, Jeff, I know you're not telling me all of it. You blush everytime you talk about her, and you're obviously smitten. So come on, tell me." She looked me straight in the eyes. "Do you love her?"
"No!" I denied, but I blushed again even as I said it, and Clocky cocked an eyebrow. "Yes," I finally admitted. Now I knew the truth, and I couldn't hide it. "Yes, I do love her. I love her deeply, but I'm afraid to tell her. She knows about us, and she thinks we're not capable of feeling love. So I'm afraid she won't believe me if I tell her."
"Well, why don't you just give her little hints to show her how you feel. Surprise her with stuff she likes. Spontaneously slow dance with her. Compliment her every chance you get. Little stuff like that, and then eventually tell her."
I stared at her. "How do you know about all this stuff?"
She gave me a quizzical look. "I'm a girl, Jeff. And I have a fiance, who did the exact same things."
I gave an embarassed smile. "Right...I forgot. Sorry, Clocky."
She gave me a hug, and we both smiled as the fire roared on.
