"You have all men on their knees. You so damn good at everything, so perfect, I hate it. I hate you, Stone. Your smell, your kindness, your voice, your smart mouth, your nerve. Everything. And now you have me thinking about kissing those lips...I wa...
Draco sat in the library after detention for what seemed like hours. Today's conflict with Stone was different to say the least. She tried to hide it, but he could see her crying occasionally with the corner of his eyes. It should not be bothering him that much, but it did. She brought him cookies and she listened to him with empathy when he was talking about his father. Not even his closest friends would do that. For a brief moment, Draco wished he could open up to her more, before he remembered who she was. Mudblood or not however, Stone was always sparking that type of emotional response that Draco had not experienced in a long time. Hearing her soft melodic voice singing that stupid Muggle song, made him want to listen to her all day. And then when she laughed he could not help but smile with her. He tried to pretend he did not, but Stone saw him. For a few moments, he felt like a child again today. As if he was a five year old, talking to a friend. Draco could feel the comfort in her words, hugging him like a blanket. For the last couple of days, Stone was a ray of sunshine in his dark world. But what does it matter? It did not take long before that stupid mudblood ruin it again today. Or...was it him? Was he the one pushing her away?
Truth be told, Draco was well aware they could never be friends, so he reacted fast when he felt her getting too emotionally close to him. He did what he would have done with anybody, but this time Draco did not seem to like the outcome at all. He had never been too bothered for making a person upset before, especially an enemy, because he felt like they deserved it. His father had taught him how to put others in their places and he was proud of that. But seeing Stone crying, caused a strong urge in him to comfort her, even though he was the cause of her tears. All she was doing was being nice to him and he was making an active effort to hurt her. But what did she expect though? Draco and his family have always supported these beliefs. He could not make an exception for her. He needed to be a worthy representative of the Malfoy family. If Stone wanted to speak to him and make peace, she was only asking for trouble. Besides, there was this voice at the back of his mind, telling him that Stone is not to be trusted. That her kindness was nothing but a manipulation technique. Why else would she care anyway? No. The only thing that made sense in Draco's mind was that Potter, who had seemed to be suspicious of him already that year, had sent Stone to take information from him or maybe even look through his stuff for clues when he was not looking. Stone was the perfect bait. She was new to the school and had no previous history with Draco. 'That must be it', Draco thought.

Draco looked around the room. Stone's cookies were still on the coffee table. He did not know if she made them or had bought them and he was debating as to whether he could try them or not. What if Pansy was right and she put a potion in them? Surely, he could not risk that. Even if it was not a love potion, it could be something else. People are saying she had enchanted Potter and other Gryffindor guys using love potion and that is why she has got their attention. Even though this was an unlikely scenario, it would explain why so many found her so charming. But then again, Theo was right. Why would Stone want to put Draco under a spell? Even if it was not love potion, she could get herself targeted. Whatever she put in those cookies, there would be witnesses, so they would know he is enchanted because of her. Unable to resist to the smell, Draco shrugged and decided to risk it and took the cookies on his lap. He devoured all of them, remembering he had not had any breakfast. They were not as good as the elves ones but these came as a close second. Stone had definitely found Draco's weakness. He had a sweet tooth. The cookies were the comfort food he needed. As soon as he finished them, Draco returned to the Slytherin common room.
