"Felisa!" I screamed as she vanished over the edge of the arena. "Fuck!" I had no way to go after her. Nothing in Valorie's arsenal would get my feet off the ground for more than a few seconds.
"Donna!" Valorie called out. She guided me over to where a clip bounced off a platform and dropped. I dove after it. It wasn't hard to snatch out of the air and when I landed, I found it was one of Felisa's spider hair clips. My eyes shot up towards the sky.
"We need to find Kami," I said. I held out my hand and my phone appeared in my grasp. Thank our merciful God the stadium had good reception. Some buildings were atrocious with all the concrete and steel.
"Did you find Felisa?" Kami answered the second her line connected. Well, at least I didn't need to beat around the bush.
"Kami, I need you to get into the arena. Someone took Felisa," I relayed.
"Who?" Kami snapped.
"I don't know. Probably the same shits that attacked Bailey. I think they have her friend too. Ki, I think?"
Kami swore and I heard her boots pounding on the floor as she ran. "Donna, the queues are closed. There's no way I can get in there!"
"Head to the lower VIP floor. One of the boxes is blown out. We'll meet you at the window." I hung up and my phone vanished in a swirl of particles. Then I made my way back to the box. As I leapt inside, I saw the fake ring Felisa picked up earlier. She must have dropped it. I picked it up, noticing it was grooved around the edge from where the cheap plastic chipped. Our one way track to Felisa's friend had literally flown out the window. Now we didn't even have a way to track Felisa.
I suppose it was the curse of being an Elicit. Elicits and Accessories could bond over synergy and Accessories could create strong ties between themselves. Not Elicits. It's like we were barred from creating any sort of connection with each other. The lack of bonding never used to bother me but after getting to know Felisa, I felt there was a hollow space in my chest. I wanted the same connection I felt with her as I did with Kami. I couldn't. Nature's way of condemning the powerful, I suppose. I think Valorie knew what I was thinking because I felt her give me a sense of comfort. I let out a hum and placed a soft kiss on the back of my gauntlet, my way of returning my thanks.
"Please watch over her," I heard Valorie pray.
"He'll keep her safe," I assured her.
"I hope so."
The door to the room slammed open and Kami burst through the doorway, her eyes wide with panic. Aside from a smile and smirk, it was the first time I'd seen some sort of emotion on her face. Distraught didn't suit her.
"We need to hurry or we're going to lose them," I said. Kami nodded and held out her hand. I clasped it and Gravitated her. As much as I wanted to keep Valorie equipped, I knew I needed Kami's skills. I switched over and found the overabundant amount of black covering my body to be a bit much. My eyebrow twitched with annoyance as I noticed instead of a decent pair of shorts, like Felisa had, I had a miniature tutu. It reminded me of the days my mother made me do dance and I wanted to gag.
I let Kami take the lead in getting us out of the arena. The grapple yanked at my shoulder and it was exhausting to climb up the glass vertically. Felisa must have had legs of iron with how much she moved around on the walls. I was used to sprinting, not endless stair stepping. As we hopped onto the top lip of the stadium, I scanned the area. I wasn't used to the headgear and I found it hard to get used to.
