Could I fit underneath the bench? From where I stood, it was hard to tell if there was enough space but if I tucked in real tight I might be able to pull it off. Although, it was probably really dirty underneath. Most benches are but at least it would offer me some solace from the bustling train station. I got a lot of stares as I stood waiting for Donna and Valorie to show up. They messaged me earlier in the week alerting Kami and I of their arrival time. We took it as Donna's way of saying to meet them at the train station.

Kami stood beside me and earned the same number of looks I did. A lot of people snickered at the girl dressed in black on a summer day with an umbrella perched on her shoulder to block out the sun coming in from the skylights. On top of that, she wore large sunglasses meant for eye surgery patients. She told me she was out late at a party and had too much to drink. The hangover didn't stop her from being her usual cheerful self, which kept me rooted to my spot instead of diving for the aforementioned space under the bench.

Since today was a special day, I wore clothes I normally wouldn't. Granted, they were cheap clothes I picked at the thrift store but they helped fill in the lack of variety in my wardrobe. For once, I was wearing pants. I didn't wear pants because female fashion had a much shorter crotch space, which caused a lot of discomfort. Kami found the high waist, white jeans amongst the hordes of assorted pants. They were a size too big but it let me wear them lower on my waist to give me enough room in my lower region.

With the pants, I wore my sandals, which were getting rather worn out, a red tank top and a blue and grey plaid button up with the buttons left open. The ends of the plaid shirt were tied over my stomach and the sleeves pushed up as high as they would go to keep me cool. My hair was pinned up on my head with a few stray curls poking out while my sunglasses acted like a mock headband. The nail polish I wore didn't match any of the items on my ensemble, although none of the clothes went together either. At least Kami thought it was cute.

Kami took a sip of her ginger ale and her eyes scanned the sea of heads as people kept flooding off the trains. Summer was tourist season in Serenhe, making it even busier than when college was in session. Looking for a pair of normal girls amongst the crowd seemed impossible. It would have been nice if someone tall, like Jay, were there with us. Standing on a bench was an option but the less attention I drew to myself the better.

"Ah! I see them!" Kami shouted. Kami waved her soda can in the air towards the crowd while I waited for the girls to come into view.

Valorie squeezed through the crowd first and smiled as she waved back at Kami. Donna came strolling along behind, her eyes scrutinizing every detail of the train station. They pulled along their luggage behind them, heading over to our little clearing next to one of the station clocks. Both wore Capri pants and tank tops, showing off their toned limbs.

"Morning!" Valorie greeted. She pushed back some stray strands of hair away from her face.

"I almost didn't recognize you, Ouranda," Donna commented, nodding at me. "Looking sharp." My face flushed and I forced myself not to lower my eyes to the ground.

"Welcome to Serenhe," Kami greeted. She tilted down her sunglasses and I winced at how blood shot her eyes were. "Sorry about the shades. I got a little carried away last night."

"It's fine," Valorie assured as Kami shoved her glasses back into place.

"I almost need my sun glasses on too. This place is way too bright," Donna remarked. The sunlight filtering in reflected off the white and silver stone work of the train station, making it look almost celestial. I'd grown used to it but I knew what Donna meant. My first time stepping off the train was a strain on the eyes too.
