Chapter Two- A Play Date

'Ryker is currently sitting in the lounge area of the hotel on Charlie's lap, while Charlie had been watching a movie with him previously she had decided to not wake him when he fell asleep'

'Lately Ryker had been a lot calmer than usual, being more than content to just spend time with both of his mothers'

'To remedy this lack of energy Charlie has set up a play date between Ryker and Kate, she was hoping the surprise would return Ryker to his previous energetic state'

'In their previous interactions Kate and Ryker hit it off spectacularly in fact Kate seemed to be able to understand Ryker without him speaking any English, being able to understand his form of non verbal communication'

'After a few moments Ryker's head bolts up, looking around earning a surprised look from Charlie, a curious grin visible on her face'

'Ryker then jumps down from the couch, crawling over to the doorway, Charlie following close behind'

Charlie: "What do you think you're doing? " 'Charlie asks with a smile, crouching down to Ryker as he tries to look under the door'

'Ryker looks back to Charlie, letting out a loud but excited rumble, gently placing his hands onto Charlie's knee as he stands up'

Charlie: "I have no idea what you're talking about" 'Charlie says with mock confusion in her voice, causing Ryker to shake his head before squinting his eyes at his mother suspiciously'

Ryker: "Lie!" 'Ryker says confidently pointing at Charlie, earning a light chuckle from her'

'Charlie and Ryker were then interrupted by a knock at the door, earning an excited hum from the young hell spawn as he climbs up onto the ceiling'

'Charlie opens the door, letting Cassidy walk in as she carries Kate with her'

Cassidy: "Well isn't this place just darling" 'Cassidy says in an overly exaggerated tone, earning a light chuckle from Charlie'

'After a brief time of conversation Cassidy sets Kate down, causing the young girl to look around shyly before she looks up, a smile crossing her face'

Kate: "Ryker!" 'Kate says happily catching her mum's attention, causing her to look around in confusion'

Cassidy: "Where is he?" 'Cassidy asks in confusion before Charlie simply points up, causing Cassidy to look up, her eyes widening'

'Ryker lets out a light hum, jumping to the ground, landing infront of Kate'

Ryker: "Friend!" 'Ryker says happily, tilting his head lightly, earning a light giggle from Kate'

'Kate then brings Ryker into a tight hug, earning a soft hum as he leans into Kate momentarily'

Charlie: "Allright you two, go play. we'll be in the living room" 'Charlie says softly, causing Kate to break the hug apart'

Kate: "Okay! lets go!" 'Kate says enthusiastically, taking Ryker's hand before running off'

'As Charlie and Cassidy sit in the living room catching up, Ryker and Kate find themselves going all over the hotel, playing games of tag and hide and seek, Ryker usually being the victor for hide and seek'

'However as time passes and Kate begins to tire out Ryker starts to slow down, making sure his friend is feeling okay ultimately ending in the two of them sitting on the living room, just generally taking things slowly'

Cassidy: "They get along quite well don't they?" 'Cassidy says placing her cup of coffee down onto the table infront of her'

Charlie: "Yeah they do. But I'm pretty sure anyone who's nice enough will get along with Ryker" 'Charlie says with a light chuckle as she watches Ryker and Kate play a game of battleship'

Cassidy: "What do you mean?" 'Cassidy asks curiously'

Charlie: "Well Ryker is pretty much harmless if he isn't antagonized, even then it takes a lot to make him upset" 'Charlie says as Kate throws her arms up in victory, earning a light smile from Ryker'

Cassidy: "Yeah I've been meaning to ask about that. if he really is a hell spawn shouldn't he be dangerous?" 'Cassidy asks curiously'

Charlie: "If he had the temperament of a normal Hell spawn he would be. I mean he can breathe fire and make his own electricity. but so far he usually has used those abilities to help me or Vaggie around the hotel or just in generally to cheer us up" 'Charlie explains earning a soft nod from Cassidy as she turns her attention back to the two children'

'Kate's hair had fallen infront of her face, causing her to sit in silence, briefly blowing the hair out of her eye'

'Ryker tilts his head before placing his hands together, rubbing them together slowly before they quickly turn into a blur, light arcs of yellow electricity sparking off of them'

'As Kate does her best to see through the hair covering her right eye Ryker gently pokes her nose, sending a light jolt of energy through her, causing her hair to start floating upward'

'Kate lets out a slightly surprised gasp, her left eye now being visible, showing it to have a bright green heart in it, similar to her mothers'

'Kate nervously covers her left eye, earning a concerned hum from Ryker'

'Kate looks back at Ryker with a slightly scared look on her face before her expression is replaced by a surprised one'

'Ryker had clenched his eyes shut before opening them. showing his eyes to now have a glowing yellow question mark in each of them, causing Kate to hesitantly stop covering her left eye, a light giggle coming from her'

'Upon hearing his friend laugh Ryker lets out a light rumble as if to say "That's better" '

Cassidy: "That's adorable" 'Cassidy says placing a hand on her chest, earning a light chuckle from Charlie'
