"Welcome everyone. Today I shall select the tributes of the 75th Hunger Games," Aqua Clementa's voie boomed in the microphone as she beamed at the faces of those in District Four. As I looked out at the crowd I couldnt help but have a bittersweet moment of relief. For the first time in the Hunger Games, they will have nothing to fear. No one's child will be taken away and forced into a game meant to break you. This time the only people with something to lose are the victors of the games. The ones who have already seen hell and survived.

Not you.

I stood on the stage with Annie and Mags across from Finnick as we watched Aqua walk towards the large bowl with a jovial grin on her face. I never truly got to know Aqua as she was always concerned with her social life in the Capitol once she left the district and never made much effort to meet her tributes. The rumor is that her parents had primed her for this position since before she was born and thats why she has her name.

"Ladies first," she grinned as she reached into the bowl pulling out a piece of paper our of the three names that were sitting idly, waiting to be chosen. Despite myself, I feel almost excited to discover what name would be called out, knowing that no matter what, I would volunteer. As insane as it may sound I can't wait to become tribute, becuase then I can live in peace knowing Annie and Mags are safe.

"Annie Cr-" She said, as I stepped forward not wanting to hear her finish before exclaiming, "I volunteer as tribute!"

"Well it looks like someone is excited to go back to the games," Aqua laughs out, proabbly shocked by my outburst as she ushers me to the front. My face is expressionless as I keep my eyes trained to my shoes, the brown tattered boots I once found solace in seemed to now be harsh reminders of the inescabably games I was about to reeneter. I couldn't look up at Mags though and I couldn't' look at Finnick either. Not after I broke my promise.

"Now for the men!" She said, ignoring the hysterical cries from Annie as Mags worked to calm her down. I try to blink away the tears at the knowledge that i wouldnt be able to see my grandma after today. She might try to mentor us for the games but I doubt they would let her since the Capitol wasn't that big a fan of relatives mentoring in my year.

Walking over to the men's bowl, she reached in and pulled out the single paper that was inside. Pulling the paper out I try to not think about what would happen once our names were called. Once we had to enter the arena and face each other as enemies knowing only one person would leave.

"Finnick Odair!"

I feel like there is a moment of silence on stage as the crowd mourns the loss of one of their most cherished district members. Or maybe the silence is due to my inability to breath as I bein to notice the small black spots clouding my vision, causing me to sway on stage as I finally look up to ssee Finnick walking up towards me with a fake smile painted on hsi lips. A fake smile I know all too well, made for the Capitol.

He seems to notice my distress as he grabs my hand in his own and pulls them up in the air as if to display a strong front for the district four tributes, while also helping me to not collapse on the stage. My actions finally hit me as I turn to look at Mags who seems have broken down in tears, the only time I have ever seen her cry, as she holds on to Annie probably working her best to console her as she deals with the knowledge that her granddaughter and the man she looks at as a son are going back into the arena.

"May the odds be ever in your favor."

Before I know it we are being shuffled off the stage, a peacekeeper roughly grabbing my arm and pushing me towards the door. "Let go of her," Finnick says walking up to the peacekeeper with a glare having already shaken off the peacekeeper who went to grab him, as Finnick pulled me into his arms.
