The bullet shoots into the wall. Tears blur Y/n's vision. She pushed Saeran's arm away from him at the last second. "Y/n." His eyes squint at her. Her heart sinks.

It's not over.

Everything happens in a flash. The gun is at his head again. Her hands hold tight to his arms and yank down. It's not enough. The gun clatters to the floor and they both dive for it. Y/n shoves him hard, but his arms are still longer than hers. Saeran gets the gun first. "Saeran, NO!"

The weapon is back at his temple. "I'm sorry." Just like that, he pulls the trigger.

The second gunshot echoes.

A scream rips through Y/n and her mind goes hot with panic. Her heart convulses roughly in her chest. Her lungs pound at the enclosure of her ribs. Tears pour out of her open eyes. She's at the park again. Chasing one of the twins. She stopped to admire a butterfly. Y/n rushes ahead. She tries and she pushes her self and she reaches, but she fails again. She falls face first. She's left alone again. She couldn't catch him in time. Once again, she wasn't strong enough.

Her eyes shakily study Saeran's shivering form. Blood pools at his side, staining the floor red. He reaches for the gun. She had managed to push the gun away from his head, but the bullet simply lodged itself into his side. She's only succeeded in making him suffer more. "Saeran."

His fingers graze the handle of the gun. His knuckles bend, but he only succeeds in pushing the weapon further away. He's still struggling. Despite the wound in his side, he still reaches. He still tries. He hasn't given in.

Y/n rises to her feet.

"The more you struggle to hurt yourself," she kicks the gun across the cluttered room. It's skid is stopped with a light thump as it bumps into something. Saeran's hand clenches into a fist. He intends to crawl. Y/n sits at his side and props his head and shoulders up against her leg. "The more I'll struggle to save you."

Her fingers find the hot soaked area on his side and press down tightly. He gasps for air. His head pushes into her chest and his teeth clench. "An ambulance will be here soon." Bright red blood gushes past her fingers. She presses down harder. "I called them on my way here."

Numbness travels up from his toes to his ankles, slowly conquering the lay of his body. His vision flicks in and out of darkness. Y/n is all that he can see clearly. "Why," his brows furrow at the breathlessness of his own voice. "Why are you trying to save me?"

Y/n's lips press against his forehead and stay there for a long time. She doesn't want go lose him. Not him. Not her Ray. Not her Saeran. Not the man she promised herself to. "Even if all you do is stare at the moon— that's fine. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. You can be alone if you want to. But please, please, please stay alive, Saeran." Y/n's tear falls onto his cheek.

"Please."

The stench of chemicals fill the air. Beeping bounces off of the vehicle's walls. Blood coats her hands and clothes in a browning crispy layer. It's already started to dry. Sobs wreck through her body and she folds into herself. The doctors pay no attention to her as they work above Saeran's body.

One of the two doctors in front of Y/n hold down the wound on Saeran's side.  The bullet went straight through. He continues to bleed. And bleed. And bleed. The beeping on one of the many machines gets louder and louder. The trunk's wheels fly across the paved road."We need a transfusion, now," one of the doctors announces.

"The hospital is still fifteen minutes away, can he wait?" Y/n doesn't have to hear the response to know. The doctor looks down at Saeran's pained face. He shakes his head. He won't make it.

Saeran is going to die.

Her fingers curl into her scalp and a white searing pain greets her. Y/n sits up and throws the hair she ripped out onto the truck's floor. No. She refuses to let Saeran die.

Y/n has a number dialed on her phone in seconds. Luckily, Seven picks up. "What is Sae- Ray's blood type?" The words fly out of her lips before the man can hardly get the phone to his ear. He doesn't waste time asking about the situation.

"(Your blood type)."

"Give him my blood." Y/n rips her sleeve up and extends her arm to the doctors. Her phone falls to the floor with a clang, the call still running. Y/n barks at the man closest to her. "We have the same blood type."

The doctors hesitate. "We would first need to check if—"

"Use my blood goddammit!" Her hand slams on the side of the truck knocking supplies down to the floor. A white case pops open when it hits the corner of the car, spilling half of its contents onto the floor. Y/n snatches one of the needles off the ground and holds it just a breath above the juncture of her arm. "I'll do it myself if I need to."

The man nearest Y/n' sends a frantic look at their senior whose shoulders sag with a sigh. "Prepare the transfusion."
