Y/n's hands eventually return to the light brown clay in front of her. Just as the hole she's making is about halfway deep, she notices a corner of a piece of plastic. Confused, she turns off her wheel and nudges Ray. "This probably isn't supposed to be here right?" Her mind goes back to when the lady switched the clays. Did she want to give her the one with trash in it? "Should I pull it out?"
He looks over and nods. "Sounds like a good idea."
Y/n sticks her clay covers fingers into her working process and digs out the corner of plastic. When she pulls it out of the mug-in-progress, she finds thats it's a small plastic baggy small enough to sit in the center of her palm. "Ray..." her voice trails off as she feels like weighted object. It's metal. She quickly rinses her hands and the plastic off and what she sees nearly makes her scream. "Ray!"
In the bag is a set of earrings. They resemble the lady of the valley flowers that he had first given her. Thin white gold workings twist together and diamonds dangle off like flowers. "Oh my god, these are beautiful!"
"I'm happy you like them," relief fills his features. "I wasn't sure which ones you would like... I'm glad that they seem okay."
Y/n wants to pulls him into a hug, but her smock is still dirty and the workers keep stealing glances. So this is why they were excited. "But Saeran," she whispers so that the others can't hear. "This must've been so expensive... I don't know if—"
"Please accept it." Saeran doesn't seem to care much for the crowd and quickly seals her lils with a kiss. His lips hug hers lightly. To his satisfaction, the defiance quickly leaves her expression.
Her hands find the clay again. "Thank you."
The fun doesn't seem to end after they finish their mugs. Saeran ordered quite a bit of projects, but it's not anything that they can't handle. With each lump of clay that made it to her work station, another piece of jewelry came out. Necklace. Bracelet. Anklet. More earrings. By the time they get to the last clump, it starts to get hard for Y/n to enjoy the moment. Her own negative thoughts begin to cloud her head. If he's making enough money to spend thousands on jewelry, why hasn't he come to see me? Certainly he can take a day off? If he's making so much money, just what the hell is he doing? She even know what his new job is yet.
This time, when Y/n opens the jewelry she gets from the mug, a more genuine smile creases her lips. It's a ring. Still undoubtedly expensive, but this is one that touches her heart. Ray washes his hands and retrieves the small ring from the bag. "I know I've been busy lately, so I wanted to get you something to make it up to you." He gently takes Y/n's hand in his and lightly cleans the clay off of her hand. Where his skin meets Y/n's, she can feel the rough callouses on his fingers. They weren't there before.
The ring is beautiful. Saeran slips the it onto her her left hand gently and it fits perfectly. It matches the first set of earrings. In even finer detail, two Lily of the valley of resembling lines of gold and small diamonds twist around a large one in the center. The inside of the ring is simply inscribed "His." He pulls out his own ring, a much thicker one, from beneath his shirt. He's wearing the ring on a thin chain. Unlike her own, his is a solid white gold band and has the word "Hers" engraved on it. Nervousness glints in his eyes.
"Thank you so much," she trails off. I'm happy, she tells herself. I'm happy. I'm happy. I'm happy. She smiles. "I'll treasure it all forever." She tries to stop herself, but the question comes tumbling out. "But when can I see you again... I just want you by my side."
The desperation that he's been trying to hide leaks out to his face. "Princess... I don't know when I'll be free again, but I love you." His words begin to repeat as if weaving them into a spell. "I love you, Y/n. I really do. I love you. Am I too late? Am I horrible for wanting to ask you to wait even longer?" His lips ghost her knuckles. "I can't stand the thought of you not being mine. Please... I'll get you anything you can ever want, so please. Please wait for me and continue to be mine."
Y/n smiles. It's forced, but it's good enough. With her strength, she'll be able to pull through this. I'm okay.
I'm okay.
I am okay.
"Anything... for you, Saeran."
