The men rush to prepare for battle as flocks of Carrion crows circle overheard.
The women and children are moved into the caves.
Old men and young lads are being drafted for war.
The women and children say their tearful and reluctant farewells as their fathers, husbands and sons are led away by soldiers.
In the armoury, we spoke are being distributed. Aragon picks up a battered sword, looks at it and tosses it back.

" farmers, farriers, stable boys. These boys are no soldiers." Aragon states as he looks at the men around him.

"Most have seen too many winters" I reply as I too prepare myself for battle. Pulling my hair back, tightening the strap to my quiver and lacing up my boots.

"Or too few" Legolas cuts in. " look at them. They're frightened. I can see it in their eyes."
The men around us fall silent as Legolas turns to speak to Aragon.
"Boe a hûn, Neled Hairin don cac mening" ( and they should be, three thousand against ten thousand).

"So beriathar hŷn. Amor nâ ned Edoras" ( they have more hope of defending themselves here than at Edoras) Aragon replies sternly.
I stand there tensely as Legolas seems to become more irritated.

"Aragon, men I ndager. hŷn ú... otheri nathan daged aem!" ( Aragon, we are warriors. They cannot win this fight. They are all going to die) Legolas exclaims.

"Then I shall die as one of them!" Aragon yells as the eyes of men dart to each of them. He pauses and walks always.
Legolas makes to go after him but I grab his arm.

" Let hon glenn-" (let him go). I say softly to Legolas who begins to retract back towards me.

" I apologise" Legolas says as he turns to rest his head on my shoulder. " I was wrong".
I lift his chin with my finger to look into his eyes.
"Nobody is ever wrong, only doubtful" I tell him softly.

Back at the armoury, Aragon dons his battle gear.
As he goes to reach for his word, it is handed to him by Legolas. He nods, accepting it from him.

" we have trusted you this far, you have not led us astray. Forgive me. I was wrong to despair" Legolas apologises.

"U-moe edhored Legolas" ( there is nothing to forgive Legolas). Aragon replies.
They smile and clap one another on the shoulder.

"I see you have forgiven one another" I say humourlessly, entering the room, fiddling with the laces around my gauntlets.

"Let me help you" Legolas states as he walks over to me, beginning to tighten my gauntlets around my wrists.
Gimli enters the room, struggling with his chain mail. We all look to him.

"If we had more time I'd get this adjusted" He says dropping the bundle of metal to the floor.
"It's a little tight across the chest" he continues.

Myself, Aragon and Legolas exchange looks as we tried hard to bite back smiles when suddenly a sound of a horn blasts in the background.

"That is no orc horn" I explain as we all begin to run out to the battlements.

There Haldir stands with Elven soldiers behind him.

" I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell. An alliance once existed between elves and men. Long ago we fought and died together, we come to honour that allegiance".

I run down the steps towards Haldir as I throw myself into his arms, tightening into an embrace.
"Thankyou" I whisper to him as I begin to let go.

"We are proud to fight alongside men once more" Haldir states to Thèoden who stands there in disbelief.

We begin to position ourselves, awaiting for the battle that is beyond us. The sound of the marching from the Uruks draws closer.
I stand next to Legolas as I watch the flaming torches from the army illuminate the sky.
