"Ok, I have to tell you both something very important." Cady said to her friends,
Damian and Janis. They were both openly out of the closet, both of them gay. "And I know you will be able to help me through it."Damian's eyes widened. "Oh my word! You've finally realised Math is stupid! Oh, Cady Cat, come here, I am so proud!" He pulled her in for a tight hug, fake crying.
Janis smirked. "Don't be dramatic, D. Let Caddie speak!" She looked at Cady, eager to hear her news.
"Thank you!" Cady managed to squeak out, still being crushed by Damian. He let her go, and wiped away a fake tear and gave her a thumbs up. "You are both openly out, and I admire you both so much, you know that. I love that you're both honest and true, but I haven't been. Basically, when I was still living in Africa, I-I um... I liked a girl at one stage."
Janis frowned. She didn't like thinking that Cady had ever liked another girl before.
But wait, Cady... liked girls?
Damian's eyes lit up. He knew where this was going, and he held his breath.
She smiled at her friends. She already knew they'd support her, and this was a big moment for her. "I've always known I liked girls and guys. But in Africa, I could never really come out because it wasn't totally accepted there." She took a deep breath and noticed she was shaking. "So, basically what I'm trying to say is.. I'm bisexual! And proud! And I've never told anyone but you two so... Ta da!" And she gave an awkward smile.
Her two friends grinned and gave her a bone crushing hug, enjoying the moment they had all just shared.
Janis was ecstatic. Damian was aware of her huge crush on Cady, but because she was convinced she was only into guys, she had never said a word.
"We are so proud of you!" Damian gushed, genuinely tearing up this time. "I love you, Cady Cat!"
Cady was definitely crying now, smiling through her tears. "Thank you! You both made that so easy for me to do! Gah, I love you guys!" And they all hugged once again.
After talking about Cady's experiences about finding out how she felt, she had more to say. "But I haven't told my parents. I know they will accept me, but I am so fricking nervous. How did you guys do it?"
"Oh, honey. It's okay to be nervous! I was there when Janis literally came out to her parents, and she was a wreck!" Damian said dramatically.
Janis slapped him on the back, but she was still smiling. Today had to be the day with the most smiling she had ever done in her life, honestly. "It's true, Caddie. It's a hard moment but you'll be fine!"
Cady grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze. "Thank you." She whispered, with so much love she felt like kissing Janis right then and there.
She had liked Janis since she met her, and had wanted to tell her how she felt for ages. Then it got complicated with Aaron, but she shut that off quite quickly after realising she really just wanted Janis.
Before the two girls could get any closer, Damian began acting out his coming out story. "It was so easy, at least for me. My parents always knew, because I was a girly boy as a kid and I'd always beg to play with the boy down there street. I didn't really know I liked him until I was 13, and that's when I knew. I casually told them, and they accepted me with open arms and it was done, just like that. It was the best decision I have ever made and, Cady Cat, you will be fine. We will help you!" He pulled her into another hug. He couldn't express how happy he was feeling, he felt like her own father.
As she pulled away from his strong embrace, she looked towards Janis, who spoke about her story, but a little quieter. "My story was a little more rough. My parents didn't really care, and I am not really sure how they feel to this day. My mom is more supportive than my dad, I know that. But you will be fine, Caddie. Damian literally wrote me a script, a script for goodness sake." She grabbed Cady's hands and pulled her towards her. "They will love you no matter what."
