Cady is your classic mean girl. She hangs out with the Plastics, she wears pink and she's very pretty.

But she also isn't your classic mean girl. She likes math, she isn't mean and she is also into dating girls.

Janis is your classic dork. She likes to paint, she's quite introverted and is secretly a huge softie.

Janis is still your classic dork, but she also likes girl.

Cady and Janis have secretly been dating for 2 months, 3 weeks and 6 days.

Only their parents and best friend Damian know. They'd be fine being more open with their relationship, but the Plastics would kick Cady out immediately.

You'd think Cady would choose her girlfriend over her fake friends, and in a way she still is. But to keep their relationship going, they regularly have to skip classes to see each other without getting caught.

"Ms George?" Cady raised her hand. She was in her third lesson for the day, which happened to be Science. "May I use the bathroom?" She had already walked up to the desk, ready to collect a bathroom pass without even hearing her answer first.

"Miss Heron, now is not a good time-" Her teacher snapped.

"Code red, Ms."

"Oh. Very well." Ms George wrote her a note and passed it to her. "Don't take too long. And Cady?"

Cady whipped her head around, her orange curls flying over her shoulder. Had she been caught?

"If you feel ill, feel free to go home. Days can be rough when you... you know." She said sympathetically.

Cady smiled at her kindly, and turned down the hall to towards the library.

As for Janis, her lesson was Art. As much as she loved it, she loved Cady more. She trudged up to her teacher, removing her paint-splattered apron. "Mr Jones?" She tapped him on the back.

She hated doing this, especially to her favourite teacher but she had to pretend so she could see Cady.

He turned around and gave her a warm smile. "Yes, Janis?"

She was really sweating now, which was oddly perfect. "I-I feel a bit sick. Can I go to the bathroom for a bit?" She started to slowly shake her hands, for dramatic effect, as Damian would say.

He looked at her worriedly. He was aware she sometimes got panic attacks, but not usually in his class. "Of course," he said warmly. "Let me grab you a quick pass. If you need to go home, that's alright."

She smiled at him nervously, hating the fact she had just pretended to act out something so serious. "T-Thank you."

Janis took the note out of his hand and skidded down to the library. As she opened the door, she immediately rushed over behind the historic books and there was Cady.

Janis's girlfriend, Cady. She loved that so much. The fact that this small, delicate girl was hers and she loved her with her whole heart, words did not begin to explain her feelings other than love.

"Hi babe." Cady whispered, dragging Janis to sit next to her.

She resisted, and spoke quickly. "Hi. Can you ditch?"

Cady's eyes widened and her heart raced. She had never ditched before, but she had to perfect excuse to go missing. "Yes, of course! Teacher thinks I'm on my code red, so I'm free to disappear."

Janis smiled at her girlfriend. She was so smart, and had thought of a much easier to use other than faking a panic attack. "God, I love you." And she grabbed her and pulled her into a quick, meaningful kiss.

Cady was first to leave the library, quickly scooting out the door. Janis followed around five minutes afterwards, so nothing was suspicious. They met behind their favourite tree and headed towards Janis's car.

"Where to?" She asked.

"Anywhere you like." Cady replied, her hand firmly gripping Janis's. She gave it a squeeze and an identical one followed in pursuit.

"I have an idea."

As they travelled out of school and into town, Cady noticed they were pulling into one of her favourite places.

"The dog park!" She squealed, bounding out of the car. She gave Janis a hug and raced towards the gates. "This is the date I will only accept from now on. Dog park dates."

They, of course, did not own their own dog but they enjoyed playing with the puppies who were there at the time. Cady always had snacks in her bag, and was not afraid to summon the dogs using them.

A small French bulldog trotted over to them, sniffing their hands and earning scratches from the girls. "Her name is Luna!" Her owner smiled.

"Awe, Luna!" Cady said in a baby voice, scratching the puppies tummy. "Who's a good girl."

Janis grinned. She loved dogs, and loved Cady so seeing them together melted her heart. "Caddie, we are getting a Frenchie one day."

Cady's eyes lit up and she kissed her cheek.

The owner raised her eyebrow, but not in a taunting way. "Are you guys a couple?"

Cady dropped her eyes, her nerves jittering all over the place. She was proud to be bisexual, but always felt nervous when someone asked her questions like that, afraid of rejection and disapproval.

Janis grabbed her hand and squeezed it, and replied. "Yes."

The lady smiled. "My wife was the person who gifted me Luna." She looked at her puppy, who was rolling on her back. "Dogs certainly make a good anniversary present, I can confirm!"

Cady and Janis smiled, and felt a strong connection between the lady. As she left, several more dogs came over to play and it was time for them to leave. Heading over to the car, Cady could not stop gushing over the lady they had met.

"I was so nervous! But she's like us! And it felt so nice!" Her eyes wide. "And I want her dog!"

Janis laughed. "I promise one day a dog will be our anniversary gift. I've always wanted to name a girl Chloe, if that could be okay."

Cady beamed at her girlfriend. "Yes, of course! In Africa my favourite lion was named Jona, so maybe..."

Janis kissed her cheek. "Two frenchies, Chloe and Jona. It's a deal."

"I can't wait!"

A/N I want to point out my dog is named Chloe so I definitely did that for her hehe. Also I plan to make this a part two one day, where they get the dogs. Sound cool? Let me know! 💖
