I Wanted To Do That First

There sat Cady. Beautiful, smart, kind Cady. Cady was Janis's dream girl. She was all she wanted and more.

Janis had liked Cady the day she moved to Northshore. At first she was too scared to talk to her, but now she's her best friend.

But it's kind of wrong to like your best friend, isn't it?

"Janis?" Cady's voice floated into the hair. As Janis's vision focused, she saw her waving her hand up and down in front of her face. "You good?"

Janis felt her cheeks go bright red. "Uh, y-yeah. Yeah, totally." She stumbled. She was sweating, unable to think straight and her heart was racing.

Cady lay her hand on Janis's shoulder softly. "You're like, panicking or something. Come here, sit down with me." She attempted to drag her over to the Sarkisian's small black couch.

But Janis struggled against her grip and stood still. She registered what was happening, Cady's hand on her and her kind smile slowly disappearing.

"Janis?" Cady spoke again, her voice now painted with worry. "Come on."

As she looked at Cady, and roughly shook her head and tried to get out of her thoughts. As Janis trudged over to the couch, Cady sat first and patted her lap. "Head. Here."

Janis didn't hesitate this time. It was probably the closest she would ever get to Cady other than the occasional hug Janis didn't actually hate.

Once again, Janis was dreaming about all the perfections about Cady until she felt a cool hand on her forehead.

She hadn't realised, but her eyes had been closed. As Janis looked up, she saw Cady's kind face once again.

"You're really hot." Cady simply said, before her eyes widened and panic washed over her face.

Janis's heart completely stopped and although she knew what Cady had meant, she couldn't help but think that was the best compliment in the world.

Cady quickly pulled her hand away and blushed profusely. "Oh, oh geez. Sorry Janis, y-you know what I-I meant."

Janis giggled quietly and looked up at Cady. She was still blushing but also giving a soft, sweet smile. "I know what you meant, Caddie." She slowly sat up next to her and sighed. "Sorry for..." she paused and looked around at the familiar surroundings of her dark living room. "earlier. I don't know what happened."

Yes you do, Janis thought to herself, don't lie to yourself.

Cady quickly grabbed Janis's hand and turned towards. "No, it's fine. I hope you're alright now." She smiled, rubbing her thumb over Janis's palm.

"Y-yeah." Janis stared at Cady. Her bright blue eyes seemed to be extra shiny in the dim light, the only bright and precious thing in the room. Janis didn't want to look at those eyes and just see her best friend anymore. She wanted more.

But that can't happen, she thought.

I'm a-alright." Her voice faltering, losing confidence quickly.

Cady peered around at Janis's facial expression and pouted. "Hey, you're not alright." She squeezed her hand tightly. "Tell me what's up, please?"

Classic Cady. Practically begging, but only because she has a good heart. Janis frowned slightly and took a deep breath. "Don't be mad, okay?"

"Okay..."

"Caddie, I like you. And I panicked earlier. I'm sorry." Janis was clearly rambling and she couldn't stop now. "I felt this way the moment I met you. It was just, so different to me. And I can't help but think about it constantly, I like y-"

Cady had let go of her hand by now, and Janis was freaking out. That was, until Cady's hand slowly grabbed Janis's neck and pulled her close. She gave her a short, sweet kiss before pulling away and whispering, "I like you too."

Janis's eyes were wide open. What just happened? She thought, her mind racing.

Cady noticed the shocked expression on Janis's pale face. "What's wrong?"

"No! Nothing!" Janis practically shouted and grabbed Cady's hands in her own. "It's just... I wanted to do that first."

Silence followed.

"Do what?" Cady asked slowly.

"Kiss you."

"Oh, ri-"

Janis quickly connected their lips herself this time, the kiss slower and more passionate.

As the pulled apart, Janis smiled. "Now we're even."

"Fine by me." Cady giggled, and cuddled into Janis's arms.
