Day 11

I lived in a world of black and white, only when you touched your soulmate's hand did you see the colors of the world around you.
My name is Jordan. I've been living my whole life in a colorless world, hoping that maybe one day I would see color.

My feet made a loud clacking sound as I walked through the rain drenched streets. Hm... I wonder what color rain is? I stopped in front of the only coffee shop my small town had and took a seat next to the window. As I looked out I couldn't help but wonder what the world really looked like. Lights decorated the streets and people were filled with joy for Christmas was here, but what color were the lights?

My thoughts were interrupted by a waitress tapping on my shoulder, and when I turned around she wore a big smile. "How may I help you sir," she asked as she pulled out a notepad from her festive apron. "Oh, uh, some orange juice and pancakes will be fine." She nodded then hurried back to the kitchen.

After a few minutes had passed I fell back into my thoughts and wonders of color and how many there were. Again, I was interrupted from my thoughts when I heard the bell that hung above the door ring. A beautiful girl walked in, her hair was put in a braid that perfectly complemented her features.

This is my soulmate... It must be...

I turned towards her and called out for her to sit with me. With a smile, she nodded and sat in the seat in front of me.

"Hello, I'm Jordan. What's your name?"
"I'm Phoebe. It's nice to meet you Jordan."

I didn't dare ask to shake her hand. I was afraid that if I saw the colors, it might be too soon. I just needed to get to know her better.

"Phoebe... That's a beautiful name. It suits you well."
She blushed. "Thank you."
"So how has your day been?"
I started off our conversation with a simple question and that simple question started a conversation that lasted hours.

My food had been given to me and I shared it with Phoebe. We both smiled as we talked and laughed. I was ready. Her hand rested on the table and slowly I placed my hand on top of it. A burst of color shot from her hand and filled my world with wonder. She was the one, my one and only soulmate.

"It's beautiful isn't it..."
She looked confused.
"What's beautiful?"
I felt my stomach twist when she said that.
"Th-the colors..."
"What do you mean? All I see is the normal black and white."

I quickly moved my hand, looking away from her. Never in my life had I felt so hurt. Never had I just wanted to die right then. Never would I see the colors again.

My only lover didn't see the colors...

A/N: I'm so sorry... I just thought I should make a sad Christmas story...
