Chapter 19

"Oh my, look how you've grown" the doctor cooed as we entered the small room. "Goodmorning Mr. Adams, how are you doing today?" she asked Anthony.

"I'm doing good. Eloise on the other hand not so much" he said and looked at me with sad eyes.

"I'm fine. It's just that I get really nauseous in the night times" I confess.

"Ah, morning sickness. It's not just in the morning's, the time differs with each person. Let me get a blood sample so I can check your hormone levels" she says to me.

I sit down as she straps a band around my upper arm and stick a needle into my inner elbow, pulling out some blood.

She squeezes it into a small plastic jar and exits the room. Anthony and I sit down in silence for about 10 minutes before she re-enters the room.

"So your hormone levels are a bit high. Maybe this is why your sickness feels so harsh. I'll give you a quick checkup and then we'll check your baby's heartbeat" she says.

"Could you please sit here and lift your shirt" she says, I look over to Anthony and I see him raise an eyebrow. "Umm, I could leave if you'd like. Give you some privacy" he offered.

"No it's ok, you can stay. Don't you want to hear your baby's heartbeat?" I say shyly and he smiles. "Ofcourse I do".

"Great, now lift your shirt for me please" she says and I do as she says.

I lay back as the doctor straps a fetal heart monitor to my stomach and starts pressing some buttons.

Heart beats started to fill the silence of the room but I noticed a strange look on the doctor's face. "What's wrong?" I ask.

"Oh my, listen to that" she says and then her facial features brightened.

I focus on the heart monitor and try to figure out what was wrong. "I dont know what I'm suppose to be hearing" I say, getting a bit anxious.

"What's wrong. Is there something wrong?" Anthony says a bit frantically. He held my hand and we looked at the doctor.

She smiles and says "No, dont get all agitated. There is nothing wrong".

"Then why did you have that strange look on your face earlier" I asked.

"Well Mr. Adams, Ms. Sullivan this answers why your hormone levels are so high and why your stomach is so large at just 2 months. If you listen closely you will notice" she says and trails off.

"Notice what?! I dont mean to be impatient but you're scaring me" I say, not liking how she trailed off.

"You will notice there are two heartbeats. Congratulations guys, you're having twins" she says.

My eyes open wide and my jaws drop. There's not only one, but two tiny humans inside of me. This is unbelievable.

"Wow, that's so great. How do you feel Eloise?" Anthony turns to me, his eyes filled with so much affection, I think I even see it filling with tears and his huge smile seemed so genuine.

He's happy.

"I'm overwhelmed, a bit shocked I must admit but I'm happy I guess" I say not being able to stop the smile that spread across my face.

He bent over and pulled me into a hug, almost lifting me from the small bed.

"Ok guys, let me finish checking you up and then you can go and celebrate" the doctor smiles and Anthony reluctantantly lets me go.

"I'm gonna go make a call, I'll be by the car when you're finished" he says and he exits the room.

All the while the doctor was checking my temperature, my blood pressure and all the necessities, I could not remove the smile from my face.

15 minutes worth of tests later I was finally finished. "Ok Ms. Sullivan. Your next appointment will be in 3 months time for an ultrasound. Apart from that continue to take your prenatals and vitamins accordingly. Here's a prescription, this should last you until your next visit. Take care now" she says and smiles at me as I take the paper from her hand and exit the doctor's office.

*Anthony's P.O.V*

I couldn't contain my excitement. I quickly grab my cellphone from my pocket and dial the number that I know by heart and wait for an answer as I lean against the SUV.

He picked up on the 3rd ring.

"Hey what's up man?" Alejandro asked on the other line.

"Hey man, I'm at the doctor's office with Eloise. You'll never know what happened".

"What up, she ok? You sound a bit jittery" he asked.

"I'm great. We just found out she's having twins. Twins man, I'm so bloody happy man" I say and I try to wipe the smile from my face with my hand but I only end up smiling harder. I run my hand through my hair.

"That's so wonderful Anthony, I'm gonna have two wonderful god kids. I'm so happy for you man" he says.

"Aww thanks man, I'm really really happy. I cant contain myself" I confess.

"I feel you man. Hey, not to put a damper on things but did you settle stuff with Ruth?" he asked.

"She disappeared without a word and she didn't sign the papers either. Not even Patrick knows of her whereabouts, or at least that's what he claims" I tell Alejandro.

"Well, it seems you'll have to take drastic measures but I hope she just complies and signs the damn papers. I see how you look at Elly man" he says and my cheeks start to get warm and I feel all funny inside.

"I like her alot, I want to do this the right way man but I need Ruth out of the picture, you get me? Hey will I be seeing you later at the fundraiser?" I asked him.

"Yea I'm actually on my way there right now. I'm taking Cassie along with me too" he says to me.

"Great, I bet Eloise will be happy to have her there. We're gonna go get something to eat first anyways, so see you there" I tell him.

Just as I place my cellphone into my pocket Eloise exits the doctor's office and starts walking towards me.

She's so beautiful. Her long dark blonde hair up in that ponytail that fell in it's natural waves. I just want to run my fingers through it and feel it. I bet it's silky soft.

I looked down to her brilliant green eyes then to her soft pink lips then to her round stomach that held my babies. I love saying that. My babies.

I'm going to make her apart of my life. I smiled as she approached me and opened the car door for her. After she sat down I rounded the car to get to my seat and all that filled my thought was 'I hope she accepts me as apart of her life too'.
