Chapter 22

      I hear a knock on my door and I awaken from my slumber.

    I check my cellphone and see that it's now 3:42 a.m. The knock sounds on my door again and I sit up.

     "Who is it?" I ask. "Its me, can I come in?" Cassie speaks.

   "Yea sure".

    She comes inside and closes the door behind her. "I just got in but I dont feel like sleeping alone, can I sleep in here with you?" she asks.

    This was a norm for Cassie, she was kind of codependent on her twin sister and not used to being without her. They were always together up until now, so she's not used to sleeping on her own.

     "Yay, scoot over. Allison's over so I didn't want to bother Cammy" she informs me. I nod my head and shuffle over in the bed.

    "Where were you? How are you just getting in?"

    "After you left we stayed behind a bit then Anthony called Alejandro saying they had to meet at the nightclub. So we went there and I listened to some music while they handled their stuff and then he brought me home" she said while getting comfy beside me.

    She turned on her side to face, me so I did the same, placing a pillow to support my stomach.

    "Elly, I think I love him" she says softly, curling up under the covers.

    "Aww, that's great, I'm so happy for you" I replied honestly, glad that it was working out for her and that she was also happy.

    "He makes me feel so happy and calm and I'm so comfortable around him. But I'm scared Elly, I've never had somebody treat me like this before. I don't know what to expect" she says and I place my arm over her shoulder and place my forehead against her forehead.

    "Listen to me Cassie, you are a very special girl and you deserve the best. He's lucky to have you, as a matter of fact anybody would be lucky to have you. Just keep that in mind always".

    "I love you Elly" she smiles.

   "I love you too Cassie, and I am always here for you".

    She rolls unto her back and stares at the ceiling. "So, were you feeling better when you got home?" she asked me.

    "Yea, the cold wind from driving kind of sobered me up a bit. Made me feel less nauseous".

    "Did Anthony leave same time? Or did he stick around?"

   "Oh, he left I just wanted to sleep so he didn't stick around. Cassie guess what?"

     She returned her attention to me and had a raised eyebrow. I was blushing at this point.

    "What is it Elly?"

   "He asked me on a date" I told her shyly. She sat up really fast and started kicking her legs, causing the bed to shake. "Woah, calm down Cassie. Easy on the shaking" I say, sitting up slowly and holding my stomach.

    "Yes! Yes! Yes! Elly, I knew that he liked you. I just knew it. I could tell! Whenever I am Alejandro if Anthony likes you he just smiles and changes the subject. I'm so happy Elly, I could scream" she says all too excitedly.

   I stand from the bed and pull down my top so it covered my stomach properly. "You need to calm down Cassie, it's no big deal. Plus you're shaking me too much" I say and her eyes dart to my stomach and she gets a guilty look on her face.

   "Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't even thinking. I'm just so excited about this. Wait, did he actually say the word date? Or did he only invite you out casually?" she asks.

     "He said he wanted to take me on a date" I told her.

   I take up a bottle of water that was on my bedside table and drank some of it. She squealed and dropped on her back, kicking her legs again.

   I laugh at her actions. "Quiet down Cassie, Cammy and Allison are asleep".

     "When's the date?"

   "On Saturday".

    "Come here" she says and stands up. She holds her arms out and we hug.

     "Our lives are finally coming together Elly, this is all we've wanted since we were younger. To be together, find love and just finally be happy for once" she says, getting teary eyed.

    "Dont cry Cassie, you're gonna make me cry" I say, starting to feel a bit emotional but trying my best to keep the tears at bay.

     "I'm sorry, I'm just really grateful. Let's get to bed, it's almost 4 a.m." she says. We hugged one last time and then got into bed.

    We lay in silence until I heard Cassie's steady breathing. Soon afterwards darkness comes and pulls me away.
