After we were through with all the pleasantries three ladies came from the small building to our left. They were all middle aged and dressed in a simple black jeans pants and black blouse tucked in with an apron around their waist and their hair up in a hair net.One lady brought out two pitchers of orange juice, a large teapot filled with tea, a coffee pot on a tray with creamer and sugar, and a large pitcher of ice water.
The second lady brought out a trolley with huevos rancheros, hash browns, Belgian waffles with strawberries and a gravy boat filled with maple syrup, french toast and a brunch casserole.
They were all steaming hot.
The last lady had a trolley filled with coffee cakes, scones, english muffins and croissants with butter.
They set out the table before leaving silently.
"So are you ladies having a good time? How did you enjoy the nightclub?" Alejandro asked.
"I didnt get a chance to ask, seeing that I got so busy".
"It was wonderful, I had a great time" Cassie spoke up, I just smiled and nodded, reassuring him that I too had a great time. I honestly did, up until Anthony had to leave.
I glanced at him to see his beautiful eyes were already set on me. I looked over at his wife on instinct and saw that she was too busy with her cup of coffee and her cellphone.
I cleared my throat and began serving myself some food.
I poured a glass of orange juice and served myself some of the brunch casserole and a couple pieces of french toast.
Anthony didn't have anything except a cup of black coffee.
"So girls, what do you do in the days, you guys in college?" Ruth spoke up.
I looked over at her and saw her smiling at Cassie, it was a forced one, but it seems like only I noticed this, or they just didnt give it much attention.
"No actually, we work at a coffee shop downtown" Cassie answered.
Alejandro was smiling at her. I could see that he really did like her, he looked pass her background and saw her for who she was. He did not look down at her like she was less and I could see that he really did enjoy her company.
I smiled at the thought then looked over to Anthony. He was checking something on his phone, but as if feeling my gaze on him, he looked up and our eyes locked for a second before I looked away.
His wife caught the exchange and made a scowl but I looked down at my lap, not giving her any reason to believe anything.
I did find her husband attractive, any sane woman would, but that wasn't my fault. Still doesn't mean that I wanted to cause any trouble.
"Elly was it?" she spoke.
My breath caught in my throat before I looked up.
"Yes".
"Mind taking a walk with me?" she asked.
I looked to see confusion in Anthony's features and then looked over to Cassie and Cammy and saw that they too had their eyebrows raised.
"Umm, I guess so" I said.
I put down my utensils and stood up as she did the same.
She smiled at me then walked down the cobblestone path that were lined on both sides by a mixture of violets and roses.
"How are you dear?" she asked.
"I'm good" I answered hesitantly, trying to be as polite as I could be in my confused state.
