"Eloise I'm going to go take a shower now. You can get settled if you'd like" he says. He grabs a towel and exits the bedroom.I'm now dressed in his clothes. The shorts have an elastic waist so they don't fall from my hips and his tshirt is very comfy.
I walk over to the window and I see the last bit of the setting sun. It's almost 7 p.m. I return to the bed and sit with my legs folded under.
My eyes return to the picture frame on his bed side and I couldn't help but take it up once again and look at the beautiful smiling woman.
She had the same smile as Anthony but they shared no other features. She was blond while he had dark brown hair, also she had brown eyes and he had bluish grey eyes. Yet the similarity in their smiles were uncanny.
This must be his mother. She had so much class and confidence and I could sense that from just a picture.
I replace the picture on the bedside table and I lay down on the bed and look up at the ceiling.
I place my hand on my stomach and I remember the dream I had of my beautiful babies. It's a bit weird when you think about it.
I guess I was so overwhelmed that I created a fantasy in my mind because I doubt that's what my children will actually look like. I dont even know their genders as yet for crying out loud. Fantasy or not I loved having that type of dream.
I lay their deep in my thoughts until Anthony opened the bedroom door and came inside.
"Hey" he said. "Hey there" I replied and smiled at him.
He had on basketball shorts and a tank. His hair was wet and he was currently towel drying it."Did I take long?" he asked.
"Not at all, I didn't even notice the time pass by" I told him.
"Anthony. I dont mean to pry but is this lady tour mother?" I asked him, pointing to the picture frame.
"Yes. Yes it is" he says and walks over, sitting beside me on the edge of the bed.
"She's very beautiful" I praise her and he smiles but it's a sad smile.
"Indeed she was very beautiful. The best mother a boy could ask for if you ask me" he says and I notice he used the word was.
"Oh, I'm so sorry I brought it up. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories" I say.
"Not at all Eloise. No memory of my mother is a bad one. She was extraordinary and I love talking about her. I just miss her so much you know" he says, continuously rubbing his hair with the towel.
I was quiet and he turned to look at me. He smiled, as if trying to reassure me that everything was ok but I was the one suppose to be reassuring him, not him to me.
"She died 4 years ago. She had cancer but she was fighting a silent battle. She said she didn't want to be pitied so she told nobody. Instead she lived her life the best she could, not wanting to fight a futile fight" he explained to me.
"She seemed so strong and confident and I got that all from a picture" I told him my previous thoughts.
"That she was. She's the strongest woman I know, next to my grandmother" he says and I chuckle, remembering his grandmother.
"I haven't spoken to my father in a while. There's no bad blood or anything but my mother was the glue that held us all together, if you know what I mean. I really need to reconnect with him. See how he's been".
"Eloise, I want you to-" he started to speak but was cut off by the opening of the bedroom door.
Both our heads spun around so quickly, I almost had whiplash.
"What are you doing here?" Anthony asked and he stood up from the bed.
"Aww, playing house are we" Ruth said as she sauntered inside.
She had on dark glasses despite it being dark outside. Her hair was in a bun and she was dressed how she normally would.
"Ruth stop right there, answer my question" he spoke again and my heart was now beating frantically.
"Hello there Eloise. I haven't seen you in so long, my how you've changed" she says sweetly, but I knew it was all fake.
I readjusted myself, sitting with my back against the wall now and my legs still folded under.
She tried walking closer to me but Anthony stood in the way. "I just want to talk about my baby. I've been out of the loop for so long" she says and I look towards Anthony with a look of panic.
"Ruth this no longer involves you. I need you to leave" Anthony says.
"Why aren't you speaking dear? Cat got tour tongue?" Ruth sneered and I glare at her.
"Ruth that's enough" Anthony speaks firmly and she glares at him.
"I'm just kidding. Im not here for any of you two. I'm so over that. I'm here to sign the damn papers and be on my way" she says.
Anthony walks over to his closet and retrieves a folder jacket from a box. He takes out some papers and hands them to her.
"I made sure that you get to keep whatever is already in your name but you touch nothing that belongs to me" he says to her and she looks up at him.
"Whatever. Hand me a pen" she says and he gives her one.
She signs all the necessary documents before giving him the paper. "Here are your keys" she says, handing him a set of keys.
"You can keep them. The locks will be changed by morning anyways. Goodnight Ruth and goodbye" he says, making it clear that she was no longer wanted here.
"Goodnight Eloise, I wish you all the best" she said bitterly, this time she didn't try to pretend to be sweet.
Anthony walked behind her and they both left the room. Not even 2 minutes later Anthony returned and closed the bedroom door behind him.
"I am so sorry about that Eloise" he says. He picks up the papers and scans them before a smile graces his features.
"Finally. Whatever made her decide to sign these I am truly happy for it. I'm now free from that God forsaken union" he mutters under his breath but I hear it and let out a little chuckle.
"Eloise I am so happy right now. Their is nothing stopping us from being together anymore" he says as he sits before me and holds my uppers arms in his palms.
"That's wonderful Anthony" I say and he smiles.
"May I kiss you again?" he asks, staring at my lips then looking into my eyes.
I dont answer, this time I initiate the kiss and boy was it breath taking.
