Lucius cannot help but look down in shame-- he knew that he shouldn't have kept these things from Lamia, most especially the vital information about Amali and his crazed brother. Mikhail loved Amali, so much that it drove him through great lengths to even use mind-control on their sister Rebecca. It all went well in the end, but it scarred their family's honour for life. Now he was watching the same scenario recurring again, but this time, it was with his true mate. Lucius tried to hold Lamia close, but she slapped his hand away; the poor girl was on the brink of tears, and it broke him--it made him feel like a horrible monster.

"Don't tell me that you only liked me because I used to be your precious flower!" She cried, clear tears falling from her eyes.

"Dear God no! Anything but that!" He shot back, desperate. "There was a connection, the first time we met at that god-damned car, you felt it too!"

"I had my questions, and my theories were correct!" She seethed, as she fell on her knees while her hands covered her face. "This love is a lie, I am not Amali nor will I ever be like her!"

"Lamia listen to me, I--"

"No Lucius, I'm sick and tired of your mind games."

"You promised that you wouldn't leave me..."

"Not after knowing that you were keeping all of this from me, Lucius." Lamia muttered, her eyes downcast. "Relationships are based on trust, and you made me feel like I'm not a person to be trusted."

With that, the brunette stood up and left the room. Lucius was left alone, as he heaved a sigh. He looked at the window overviewing the forest outside his house as heavy rain came pouring down. He walked towards the clear glass and touched it, causing the sheer material to crack. It was at that same exact moment when Lucius felt that his heart was running further away from him; his body aching with numbness.

His mate was trying to leave him, but he won't let it happen, not again.

Lamia walked downstairs, as she saw Bex feeding little Jaydee with a smile on her plump lips. Once the blonde saw her, she dropped the spoon and ran towards the brunette; Bex held her hands.

"Lamia what happened?" She asked, but Lamia didn't have the strength to answer her questions, so she looked down.

"Bex, I have to go... I--"

"Lamia Derano you get back here." Lucius' thundering voice commanded as he suddenly appeared in front of the women, his golden eyes turning scarlet. "I swear to God we'll resolve this, if it's the last thing I do."

"Get lost."

"What, I'm not some comic-book hero, Mia!" Lucius retorted, as he touched her cheek, which only resulted to her gently looking away. "I won't leave you until you listen to my side of the story."

"That what, you only need me because of that stupid promise you made with Amali?!" Lamia growled, kicking Lucius right in his 'family jewels', making the man fall on his knees. "I'm not some stupid damsel either! I don't need a man like you to make me look like a fool."

As Lucius was writhing in pain, Lamia ran away to the woods; Bex whistled as she helped her big brother stand up.

"Make sure your junior doesn't fall off."

"You're not a good influence on Jadinia." He replied, making the little girl laugh. Lucius struggled to chase after Lamia, since his lower region still ached. After a few moments, he regained his footing and followed her with his inhumane speed. He looked everywhere, using all of his senses as he sped up the hill, not knowing that Lamia wasn't there.

Lucius suddenly stopped, as the forest became eerily silent with the darkness of midnight and only the moon's light shining up above. He felt no fear from the creatures of the dark for he ruled them, but there was something lurking there; something familiar.

'Tic tock Luccio.' A deep voice taunted, as the noble demon froze. 'I'm taking her from you, and you can't do anything about it-- big brother.'

"Mikhail."

'Such a surprise that you remembered me, after you know, you threw me to the void and left me there to rot.' Mikhail replied, his voice seething with venom and hatred, as the rain stopped but was replaced by thick, black mist. The younger Lucine appeared, his figure slightly overshadowing his brother. Lucius growled, clawing Mikhail, but the latter was too fast.

"Now, is that how you noble people say hi to your exiled sibling?" He taunted, earning himself an animalistic sound from his brother. "I figured."

Unlike Lucius, Mikhail was rugged. He was the type of man that you'd consider as the iconic bad boy who'd wear leather jackets and have girls flinging themselves at him; if the former was the 'Black Sheep' of the royal family, Mikhail was so looked down upon that even his own father crossed out his name from the family tree. He loved illusions and tormenting people using their own heads, but the only thing who had the power to stop him was the dead Amali. Lucius frowned.

"What are you doing here, brother?"

"Oh my, I'd love to chat with you, but--" Mikhail flew up, his beautiful wings carrying him up like the beautifully sinful Lucifer. He moved his hands in a fluid motion as bright violet and black rays engulfed the dreary forest. "--your lady awaits you."

With that, he vanished, but with his disappearance Lamia appeared as she fell from the skies. He jumped up as his gigantic wings erected from his toned back, his wings moving as fast as they could to save her. Once she was in his arms, he captured her small body in an embrace.

"I'll protect you from him." He whispered as he kissed her cold lips. "I'll never lose you again."

Questions raced through Lucius' head as he wondered as to how Mikhail didn't harm Lamia nor did he kidnap her. He was sure that his lover knew nothing of his brother and Amali, even Rebecca didn't tell her anything! Mikhail was the flashy type, and he was sure to leave a mark whenever he did something-- that was always a negative remark. Lucius held Lamia's hand as she let out shallow breaths. Did he visit her? Was he following them? The answers, he didn't know, but Lucius was sure that he'll see more of Mikhail from this day on.

He feared that his sister and his niece would get hurt if he brought Lamia to his home, so he decided to bring her back to her house. He walked at a peaceful pace, knowing that Mikhail was long gone. Once they were at her humble abode, he opened the door with an unseen force.

"Mia, wake up cara." She didn't budge, but her eyebrows furrowed in annoyance-- like she was with someone who annoyed her in her dreams. He chuckled as he went upstairs, his strong arms unwavering. Once at her room (he followed the scent of raspberries and vanilla, which was the strangest yet most appealing scent to him), he let her down on her bed. Lucius turned around, his back facing her sleeping form, as he motioned his hand to open her closet to change her clothes. He shook his head as he let out a sigh.

"If I didn't have any respect, I'd change your clothes myself." He stroked her cheek as he sat beside her. "You are draining my strength woman, oh god, the things I'd do to claim you."

Lucius looked at his watch, it was almost four a.m. and they still had to go to school (not to mention that her brother might rip his balls if he saw him inside Lamia's room).

With one last kiss, he opened her window and jumped down, walking away as the sun began to rise.
