LUCIUS' POV

My ears were buzzing as I quickened my pace. I don't understand what's happening; yesterday Lamia was so annoyed with Mikhail, but now this? It was as if they've been together for a long time. Then again, Amali was so taken up by my brother, maybe that's why Lamia's acting like this-- or maybe my brother's just forcing her into some sort of filthy ordeal. I know what I've done before, and that's why I'm fixing things now! Lamia is a wonderful woman, and I love her more than anything, but unless she accepts me as her mate, Mikhail could still take her away from me.

No, no, no. The ring.

The ring is my last chance.

Nothing can break that, I'm the strongest demon in hell aside from my father!

Lamia was following me, I can smell her--but why is she cautious? Did Mikhail say something to her? No, that's impossible, the ring would make her think that he's lying. Why am I afraid? My heart's beating fast and I can hear my blood coursing through my veins. I stopped in front of my classroom, and opened it. I went inside first, and Lamia followed shortly; I slammed the door shut and locked it, causing Lamia to flinch. She gazed at me with worry, but there was another emotion mixed in her beautiful hazel eyes.

Fear?

She was scared of me?

What did I do?

Oh no, oh no.

I laughed as I paced around the room, my eyes gazing anywhere but her. My mind was going to dark places, as my thirst for bloodshed was getting stronger and stronger. I need to dispose of Mikhail, quickly. He was stopping Lamia from accepting me--why didn't he die?! I was so sure that he was going to get robbed and killed by those prisoners from the Void. They were filthy, disgusting, and desperate-- he fits perfectly with them. But no, someone had to help him, had to train him to take over the fallen empire of the dead old king, Elias. My brother's definitely stronger, in fact, he might even stand a chance against me-- but that's not enough to get rid of me. I faced Lamia, as she stared back at me with a hooded expression.

"Lucius, what's wrong?" She asked, as I walked near her. I rested my head on the crook of her neck and inhaled her scent. She smells impure. She smells so disgusting now-- raspberries do not go well with a bastard's scent.

"I'm just worried," I replied, wrapping my arms around her waist. Lamia froze, but then relaxed. She ran her hand through my hair, as my body and mind suddenly calmed down. "I don't like seeing you with another man."

She let out a chuckle, as she hesitated to touch me again-- but she did, and I loved it. I nuzzled my nose on her neck, as I trailed kisses from there up to her lips. It felt empty somehow.
