MIKHAIL'S POV

I laid down on the balcony, with my hands tucked under my head as millions of stars adorned the sky. There's a legend to those sparkling lanterns up above us; the legend of Yin and Yang, who came from both the skies and the lands. A story about a beautiful woman who fell in love with her sworn enemy, and in return, he gave her the stars. They said that the two realms were at a constant war, but one look from the other person's eyes changed everything. It's pathetic. Who in their right mind would believe a hillbilly story like that?

I let out a sigh. There were always deeper meanings to everything in this world. Stories of origin adorning the pyramids and even the smallest of insects.

This makes humans all the more amusing; they lie, and get lied to; they steal and get robbed back; they kill and get punished by either The Man Above, or The Man Below. But in my opinion, not everything good is right in one's eye, nobody knows the whole story of one person-- and there are seven billion in this world.

Seven. Billion. Annoying. Rats.

Is there some kind of ironic God for contraceptives? I don't even want to know.

The air was chilly, but it was refreshing. If you compare The Void from Lamia's small balcony, I'd choose this. No responsibilities, no "Cold" and "Ruthless" king persona to uphold... It's a nice change of pace. I'm just Mikhail, and I like it that way. I closed my eyes, as I heard the closing sound of a glass door. I smiled.

"Have you been waiting long?" Asked Lamia, as I peeked at her with one eye open. She raised an eyebrow.

"Decades, actually." I smiled as I sat up, inching closer towards the brown-eyed goddess. "But the wait was well worth it."

"Great, some overused words from a thousand-year-old demon." She laughed as she playfully punched my arm. I fake hurt as I frowned at her.

"Ouch. Have you no shame, you barbarian?!" I replied, holding my chest as if I was in pain. "My skin is worth millions, you'd pay that much if you give me a scratch!"

"In your dreams Mikhail." She replied as she sat next to me, her arms tugged in front of her legs as she gazed at the starry sky. I looked at her. She's beautiful in all aspects. Her button-shaped nose and her long lashes make her look like some kind of doll in my eyes. I'd take her any day instead of seeing those pathetic bleach-skinned women in skimpy clothing that covers nothing at all. She's natural and talented, but I know she wouldn't believe me if I told her so.

Since people think that all demons are predators trying to kill their preys with sweet lies and seductive words, they're always terrified of something deliciously sinful. It's half-true, but I'm honest, what better sin than Lust or Greed? I've tried examining Lamia before, I asked her once if she wanted all the riches in the world, but she wanted a normal and happy life instead; I asked her if she wanted friends, but she'd father have few and real ones; I asked her if she wanted to live forever but she wanted to experience life to its fullest. Truth be told, she's the most pathetic human I've ever met; she changes her mind quickly, and she cries a lot.
