Note: This was initially going to be a prologue to a fanfic but I changed my mind so now it's a one-shot lol XD I hope you like it! Part two coming soon ;)

Getting involved with your step-brother? Big no-no. Keeping it a secret from your family and all your friends? Um...probably also not good. But keeping the secret of your involvement in alien activities in Hawkins from your somewhat-secret-not-boyfriend plus friends and half the town added to the mix? Oh yeah, that one takes the cake.

Okay, I know what you're thinking. I shouldn't have gotten involved with him. Let's call that the understatement of the year. I guess I could try to get out of this, tell you it's not my fault. He came onto me? But no. It would be a lie and we all know that. Especially with his track record. Girls just flocked to him - cue the eye roll. But even that's still the truth. It was something about him, it drew me in from the moment I met him. Shouldn't have even been thinking the thoughts I had that first dinner with our parents and my little half-sister, Max.

It was the very first time we all got together before the wedding, before the announcement even. I could tell something was off about Neil from the get-go. He was too nice, too interested in our lives. Plus the purple bruise I saw on Billy's wrist was a bit of a tip-off. I guess we just shoved it under the rug, though - chose to forget about it because it was easier that way. Just don't question it, that's what mom said. Maybe she was right, maybe she was wrong.

The problem? I did question it. A lot. Too much. So much so that I got closer to Billy, closer to the truth until it was right there staring me in the face. And I couldn't get away. By that point, I was pulled in way too deep.

Then it happened.

Everything changed.

Suddenly, Billy wasn't just the annoying step-brother Max and I had to get used to living with. Suddenly, I was sneaking out of my room late at night to see him, lying to my mom of my whereabouts - even lying to my friends whenever point blank asked. I knew it wasn't right, you don't need to remind me, okay? We were related - well...okay, not really. But we lived together, it's weird. (Sorry for stealing your thunder, Alice Cullen).

As the months dragged on in the little town of Hawkins, it got harder to keep the secret...much harder. Especially when little green men started falling from the sky. Again, just a metaphor, people.

Okay. Enough of me talking. You probably want to hear the whole story now, right? All the details and dialogue included? Fine. I guess that's your right.

But don't say I didn't warn you...
