I was practically on cloud nine for the remainder of that day and I was so distracted by the kiss that I didn't even get to laugh at Umbridge as she ran all over the castle to extinguish the fireworks. My heart just wouldn't settle as my mind replayed that kiss over and over again. Like I said, I've been kissed before, but none of them have left me in a state like this. I spotted Fred around dinner time and we traded blushed smiles.
To think, I truly was living the dream: I found out I was a witch; I get to go to Hogwarts; I'm friends with Harry, Ron, and Hermione and the lot of them; and now I kissed Fred Freaking Weasley. Could this get any better?
All thoughts of Theodore Nott, Seers, and even mine and Zendaya's fight were gone. I actually almost forgot about the fight when I asked her a question later that night about when the next Hogsmeade trip was and I got confused for a second on why she was a little perplexed about answering until I remembered.
The next couple days were more or less like that. I finally came down from the kiss, but there were a couple times I would be walking down a hall and run into Fred and he would steal me away behind some tapestry or into an empty room where we would make out for a few minutes and I would return to my fluttering state. Despite that Umbridge has officially taken over the school, the D.A. has been forcibly disbanded, and me and Zendaya's not speaking to each other, Fred was a fantastic distraction from it all that I eagerly welcomed. Unfortunately, since the Room of Requirement was discovered, me and him couldn't return there like how we did in February, but these little stolen moments with him made up for it in their own way.
I knew he would have to be leaving very soon, and it was something I was dreading just a little, but for the life of me, I couldn't remember off the top of my head when he and George were to quit and leave school. So, with each moment I could steal him away, I cherished it.
The waves from me and Zendaya's fight hit Arthur and Cora and mealtimes took an awkward turn these days as we still normally sit together, but don't talk. Cora tries lightening the mood with things she read in some magazine while Arthur brings up schoolwork. Neither tactic worked. If anything, it made things more awkward.
"What's going on with you two?" Cora asked a couple days since the fight.
"It's nothing."
"Sure doesn't look like 'nothing'."
"Zenna and I just had a disagreement. Nothing more, nothing less," I answered curtly before walking off to Herbology.
Theodore Nott, however, was the question that longed to be answered with each day after my blissful state of mind. Yet, each time I tried to corner him, he would somehow disappear and escape. I tried catching his gaze, but he was determined to ignore me, which almost infuriated me.
I didn't bring up Theodore saving me that night when the D.A. was found out to Fred. I figured he would probably get worried, or worse, corner Theodore himself to figure out what game he was playing. I was actually half-tempted to to tell Fred solely so he could hunt down Theodore and pull whatever Weasley trick he had to get the boy to talk, but I couldn't shake this feeling that there's more going on. I mean, there was the thing with Pansy back before Christmas. He's playing some angle, and I need to figure it out before he pulls one over on me.
"You're moody," Fred noted as he lazily turned the page of his book.
I shook my head. "No, I'm Amelia. Moody is the one with the eye-thing going on."
He snorted. We were sitting within the top of the clock tower, which seemed to be one of the most remote places Fred could find in Hogwarts. It's been our little hideout since the Room of Requirement was discovered. It's a bit more on the chilly side, but at the flick of his wand, Fred would have a small fire going. He was sitting up against a wall with some Charms book in his hand while I leaned up against him while I skimmed over a pile of pamphlets that were given to me to help decide my future career. His hand brushed through my hair that would occasionally send shivers down my spine.
