I woke up to the sound of something crashing. I instantly jumped up and grabbed a nearby chair, ready to go round three with the attackers. But it was only a young woman with bubble-gum pink hair juggling a tray of food.
"Sorry!" She regained her balance and defeatedly stared down at the tray then at the floor where a glass of some juice had shattered. "Looks like your pumpkin juice decided to rebel," she huffed. She walked over and sat the tray on my bed. She flicked her wand at the broken glass and it mended itself. With another flick of the wand, the liquid evaporated. She took the glass and sat it on the tray, glaring at it as if it falling was its own fault. The tray had a plate completely filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, oranges, and a blueberry muffin.
"I'm Tonks, by the way. Your kind-of-temporary roommate. Were you really going to try to hit me with a chair?" She added with a raised eyebrow.
I blinked, realizing that I was still yielding the chair like a bat. I sat the chair back down and sat on the bed.
"Sorry," I said awkwardly. "I guess I'm still worked up from last night. I'm Amelia." I held out my hand and Tonks took it eagerly. "What time is it?"
"About two in the afternoon."
"Is my mom awake?"
Tonk's grin softened into a smile. She shook her head. "No, but Molly thinks she will be waking up any minute. Your dad though-"
"Hank isn't my dad," I quickly corrected.
"Well, Hank woke up a little bit ago. Remus is talking to him now and trying to calm him down. He's a muggle, right?" I nodded, and she let out a low whistle. "Well, this will be interesting."
I snorted. "You can say that again. If it's anything but ordinary, Hank freaks out."
She chuckled. "Well, we'll keep an eye on him until your Mom wakes up and talks him down."
"Good idea."
"Well, eat up!" She motioned to the tray. "Or I will and Molly won't be happy if I eat it."
I giggled. "Fine, but I don't think I'll be able to eat all of this."
"At least try for Molly's sake. She was going on and on about how thin you are."
I frowned. "I'm not that thin." I looked down at my body. I had a little more stomach and thicker thighs than most girls at my old school. I have slimmed down since Dad died as the depression from his death resulted in me barely eating anymore, but nothing that should be concerning. Nonetheless, I did try to eat a little of everything that Mrs. Weasley made, although, I ended up giving the muffin to Tonks after ripping a little piece off of it for myself.
As I ate, Tonks and I talked, mostly about my muggle life. She was curious about some of the things I talked about, mostly about basketball games as it was a muggle sport. I had to explain the concept of the sport to her and ended up promising her to take her out sometime and try playing it.
Despite that I only just met this girl, I felt like I've known her my whole life. There was something about her that was almost magnetic and her smiles were insanely contagious. She radiated warmth and kindness and energy. Then again, she is a Hufflepuff and that is the sweetheart house. She told me about her being a metamorphmagus, and right then changed her hair to a variety of colors. She changed it to a light, seafoam green when she asked what my favorite color was, then her nose and mouth changed into a bird's beak when she asked what my favorite animal was.
"That's amazing." I gaped at her transformations, awestruck by the magic of it all. To see it in real life was nothing compared to how it was described in the books. "Seriously, that's some gift right there."
