Dinner ended too soon and all the kids were sent upstairs to pack so we wouldn't be running around the next morning at the last minute. Since I've been mostly living out of my trunk since I got to Grimmauld, I just had to pack my new school robes and books. As I was organizing my chest Mom came in holding a small box. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was a radio.

"Need help packing? I brought music!"

I shook my head. "I'm good with the packing, but music is always appreciated."

She sat the radio down on the nightstand and turned it on. She adjusted the antenna and turned the dial until the beat of 'I Need a Hero' pounded through the speakers. Mom grabbed Tonks' hairbrush from her bed and held it up like a microphone.

"Where have all the good men gone

And where are all the gods?

Where's the streetwise Hercules to fight the rising odds?

Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?

Late at night I toss and I turn

And I dream of what I need

I need a hero!"

I grabbed my own hairbrush and used it as my own microphone and we both sang the chorus in perfect harmony. Mom's voice had gotten a little deeper in recent years, but she could still hit high notes without a crack, whereas my voice was still young and still had a shrill to it, but I had learned to curve that shrill into a sound more pleasant to the ear.

I sang the second verse and Mom sang the last verse with the both of us singing the final chorus together. As we sang, I danced to the beat and let the world just momentarily disappear. I was living in the moment and it was like I was on cloud nine.

We sang a few more songs after that. I internally thanked Dad for introducing me to music from his childhood. After all, I am going to be stuck with it in this time period. After finishing 'Let's Hear it for the Boy', Mom turned down the volume and sat on Tonks's bed.

"That was fun," she breathed, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "Just like when you were younger."

"Yeah, it's been a while." I plopped onto my bed. "Haven't since Dad died."

Mom gave me a sad smile. "I know. It's been a hard couple years. I was never close to Brady as you were, but it still hurt when he died. He was my first and probably closest friend in that world."

"Did he know that Sirius is my father?"

She nodded. "He wasn't a Seer of this world, but of another. Remember those Percy Jackson books? He was a Seer of that world."

My jaw dropped. "Percy Jackson is real?" When she nodded and I laughed. "Oh man, I wish I could go there."

Mom then became very serious. "You could, but you wouldn't last long."

"You mean the monsters?"

She shook her head. "I forgot to tell you this, but there are dangerous side-effects if you Jump to a world you don't have a connection to."

"What kind of side-effects?"

"The most common one is insanity. Think of it like this: there is a bond between a person and their world. A bond that ties them to the ground and works to their senses. Some people have more than one bond to a world. For us, it was the world you grew up in and this one. But if you Jump to a world that you're not connected to, you have nothing to ground you and your senses can't grasp onto the world. At first, you won't feel anything, but as time goes on, you will fall into insanity, and that insanity usually ends in death."
