"Are you really okay with this, Ali?" Mommy asked for the nth time habang nakaupo sa kama ko.
I almost rolled my eyes.
I am only wearing a white robe habang nakaupo sa harap ng tukador ko at binoblowdry hanggang leeg na buhok.
"My, stop asking already. Baka magbago pa ang isip ko. I know this is the consequence of being so lazy at matagal ko na namang tanggap."
Yeah, I'm lazy as fuck.
"I'm just guilty. You're my only daughter and yet I am doing this to you."
Nilingon ko siya and gave her an assuring smile. She looked so beautiful in her cream midi notched collar dress. She looked like she's at her late thirties though she's almost fifty.
"When I decided not to pursue something related to your business, tinanggap ko na rin na ikakasal ako sa taong kayang mamahala ng kompanya niyo. So don't worry, I got this."
Mommy's the only daughter too kaya wala ng ibang magmamana ng crude oil company. But I don't really want it. It's stressful. I just want to live simply and also, I hate complicated things.
Bahala na yung magiging asawa ko mamroblema. I'll just marry him, undertake a merger between our companies, and it's done! Then I'll be free to do what I want, which is to run the coffee plantations in Mindanao.
"When I was your age, halos lumayas ako sa amin para hindi makasal sa Daddy mo."
I chuckled.
"You ended up being married to Daddy though so what's the use. It's for the company naman... and for me. Also, look at me now, in just three years, may 23 branches na ang Treecup."
I combed my short hair and kissed the air while looking at my reflection in the mirror.
Pretty.
"I'm happy that you enjoy managing the coffee plantations, Ali." She smiled and I smiled too. "Magbihis ka na, maghihintay ako sa labas." Sabi niya na may kaunting pag-aalala pa sa boses at tumayo.
I'll be meeting my soon to be fiance's mom later with mommy. Gusto niya raw kasi akong makilala. I heard she's my Mommy's college friend.
"Okay po. Pero 'wag na kayong mag-alala, I'm fine... Just make sure he's handsome." I said and giggled.
Daddy is handsome too at mabait kaya walang naging problema sa kanila ni Mommy. They love each other, and that's the most important thing.
"Ang landi." She laughed. "Pero syempre, I wouldn't let just anyone marry you. I made sure to look for the best."
I smirked.
"Tatakas talaga ako kung hindi pogi yan at hindi na ulit magpapakita."
"Hmm. Do you wanna see his picture?" She grinned.
I grinned too and stood up para lumapit sa kanya.
"What's his name?" I excitedly asked.
That's why his mom wants to see me today.
"Giro Callante." She answered.
Shit.
It's a stolen shot. He's laughing and looking at his right, wearing an aviator sunglasses.
"Handsome, right? He'll be home from Michigan in two weeks."
Hindi ako nakapagsalita at nanatiling nakatitig sa litrato niya. He looks...
He looks more fit and manly in this photo.... and why the heck do I find him so attractive laughing like this.
At sa dinami-dami ng tao sa mundo...
Deputa. Seryoso ba 'to?
In less than four months... I'll be engaged to the person I ghosted before.
