Lynn's POV
today was saturday and I couldn't be any happier with myself. I had stood up to Hayes and was going to the dance with a great guy.
I never really went to dances, It bored me and I usually stood by the food table but you know it was worth a try.
Grayson was meeting me there so I made my way to school. Mom was working once again, you know nothing new.
' Dail Dude: I see you '
I chuckled as I looked around and saw Jack driving along with Jess and her Boyfriend, Gerald.
"Get in Pretty Lady! " Yelled Jess
"Thanks " I replied getting in the backseat with Jack
"You excited?" Asked Jess
"Kinda" I shrugged.
"To be honest, I set you and Grayson up on purpose. Grayson had a tiny crush on you before but couldn't get himself to talk to you so yeah" Jess confessed
"You know I didn't need to get set up right?" I asked
"Yeah. It was for Grayson." Jess replied
"We gonna party tonight ayee" Jack said bumping shoulders with me
"Do you have a date?" I asked Jack
"Does the food table count?" he asked and I laughed
"Then no" he chuckled
"Aww loner" I joked and he pouted.
After a few minutes of talking to Jack, we arrived.
We all hopped out of the tiny truck and made our way to the entrance.
I peeked inside and saw Hayes already there. What the heck was he doing here? Was Madi here too?
We all payed and entered the dance.
"Dance with me, C'mon" Jack said pulling me towards the dance floor
he did silly dance moves like the disco one and the screwing the lightbulb and the classic moonwalk and I played along. After Dancing for awhile Grayson met up with both of us and Jack left us to make his way go to the snack table.
"Hey, you look absolutely beautiful" Grayson said taking my hands in his as I slightly blushed and smiled
"thankyou, you look great " I smiled
"Not as good as you but you know" He shrugged
we soon started dancing a bit and got to know eachother.
"When's your birthday?" I asked
"December 16. What's your favorite color?" He replied
"Blue. Where are you from?" I asked
"New Jersey. I have a twin " Grayson chuckled
"really? does he go to our school?" I asked
"yeah, he's a geek" Grayson shrugged
"Okay anything else? " I asked
"Umm.. My twin is older than me by 20 minutes" He shrugged
"aww you wittle baby" I chuckled pinching his cheeks.
"Lynn.. I have to tell you something.. I really, really like you-"
"Grayson I-"
"No Lynn this is not fair. How come you choose to think about a guy who will always hurt you? a guy thay doesn't even deserve you? I would never do such a thing" Grayson said
"You know what? No don't date me or fall in love with me, I will take you put on silly dates, surprise you with chocolates and flowers, have random movie nights, be myself with you, and make sure to never hurt you because you never hurt the ones you love. I will love you and protect you, nothing will ever hurt you and if maybe just maybe you would like to break my heart, that's alright. It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you." Grayson sighed
"and Honestly, my mom would be so proud of me if I brought you home" Grayson said waiting for my response
" Grayson it's nothing personal really. I just- My only goal in life right now is to be happy. Genuinely, Intensively, and consistently. Regardless of what it looks like to people. " I reponded
"Yet you still like Hayes. Hayes won't make you happy. He will only hurt you even more Lynn" Grayson said
"This isn't worth fighting over" I sighed
"I'm gonna go get something to drink." Said Grayson before leaving.
"Hey" said Hayes tapping my shoulder
"Hayes-"
"Chill, I'm not trying anything I promise " He said and I smiled
"Well, what are you doing here? I mean you don't exactly dance" I chuckled
"And you do? I was just bored and decided to stop by. " he shrugged and I nodded . After awhile we were left in silence.
"Wanna Dance? Just one Dance please?" Hayes pleaded and I nodded
Just as we were going to the dance floor, the song switched onto a slow one.
"You promised one song" Hayes slightly smirked
"whatever" I rolled my eyes jokingly
he rested his hands on my waist and I put mine around his neck.
"Your wearing that one direction perfume huh?" Hayes chuckled
"Yeah" I smiled
"Good. I'm glad that hasn't changed." he smiled
and for the first time in forever I was happy
Madi's POV
"C'mon Madi it will be fun!" said Hailey, my friend, as she pulled me out of bed. Hayes hadn't made an effort to talk to me.
"fine" I sighed getting dressed.
when we arrived I made my way towards the drink table. I took a sip from my drink and looked around the dance floor seeing some familiar faces here and there, some waving.
But the most familiar face ever was My boyfriend, the one that supposedly doesn't dance, dancing with his best friend. Smiling from ear to ear, whispering into her ear as she laughed. The worst part was that they actually looked cute together, they looked happy, he was happy, happier than he was with me. She made him laugh and smile, and he did the same with her. It was pretty obvious that they both liked eachother and the only thing stopping them from being together was me.
I quickly threw my cup away and rushed outside.
