Justin sat in his seat in his history class, barely awake. The teacher, Dr. Trad was rambling on and on about history's longest and bloodiest war. A war that was waged between two dimensions: Earth Zone, the dimension where Justin and all the other humans lived, and the Nightmare Zone, a dimension that was inhabited by creatures that had been twisted and mutated by darkness. These creatures were known as Dark-seekers.

The war between Earth Zone and the Nightmare Zone had lasted for twenty years, it was fought because the Dark-seekers had wanted to take control of the Earth Zone and eliminate the humans. The war had ended when the humans had learned to use magic and found a way to seal off the portal that lead between the two dimensions, stopping the Dark-seeker's forces from coming through, but trapping the human troops by permanently severing the dimensional rift.

Dr. Trad continued talking. "As we know, there have been many attempts since the war ended to reopen the rift and destroy the Nightmare Zone. Obviously none of them were successful, frankly I believe that if any one was to actually succeed, it would only lead to yet another war," he said.

Justin yawned. "This is so boring," he sighed. "I would almost prefer the training from earlier. At least that was more exciting." Justin suddenly felt a dark presence nearby. It's probably nothing, he thought.

Alpha's fur stood up as he jumped up and growled. Justin looked at him, curiously. "What is it?" he asked.

Suddenly, the entire classroom started to shake. Many of the students started to panic, with Dr. Trad trying to calm them down. "Please calm down, it was only an earthquake. No need to panic," he assured everyone. Then the school's emergency alarm came on. "Okay, everyone head outside in a calm and orderly fashion."

The entire class ran outside, nearly trampling over the slower moving students. When the class was outside, they saw that everyone had been taken from their classes as well.

Justin was trying to figure out what was happening, when he heard one of the student's scream. "What is that?!" they screamed, pointing at the sky.

Justin looked up where they were pointing and saw a red hole that was growing above the school. "What the hell is that?" he asked.

Dr. Trad walked over to a group of teachers that were talking with Principal Cadres, trying to figure out what the hole was.

Justin kept watching the hole grow until it just stopped. "What the-?" Justin started saying.

"Oh my god, something's coming out of it!" shouted another student.

Justin looked a little closer at the hole and saw multiple black figures coming out of it. "Crap," he said. "Those are Dark-seekers. Someone actually reopened the rift."
Sure enough, students and teachers with weapons were instructed to retrieve them and meet in the courtyard, ready to fight, while students without them were informed to head towards the school's safe house.

Justin and Alpha quickly ran to his locker and pulled out his weapons. He loaded the holster with the pistols fully loaded, and some extra clips, then slung the sheathed swords, one over the other, before heading towards the courtyard. They met up with Kylan, Porter, Sam and about twenty other older students in the courtyard. Some of the teachers and the vice principal checking were their equipment.

Kylan and the others came over to him, handing him a watch. "Put this on," Kylan instructed.

"What is it?" Justin asked.

"It's a watch that I modified to read your energy levels, it will warn you when your running low on energy so you don't over exert yourself and pass out in the middle of a fight. It also doubles as a communicator. Sam, Porter and I each have one. Our contacts are already programmed into them."
