The next day, the school was almost completely restored. Many of the buildings were repaired, but the cracks on the floor still remained.
Justin and Alpha, as well as Kylan, Porter and Sam were called to Principal Cadres' office. They were all on edge as they waited to hear what the principal wanted.
Principal Cadres walked in and sat at his desk, turning to face everyone with a serious expression on his face. "I can assume that you all already know the reason that you're here?" he asked them.
Everyone nodded.
"Good," Principal Cadres continued. "Let's start with the fact that we need to assign an infiltration team to go to the Nightmare Zone, as soon as we get the rift reopened."
Kylan stepped forward. "I would like to propose a team of five people so that we don't alert the enemy we're there," he said.
Principal Cadres thought about Kylan's proposal. "I agree," he decided. "Now we need to decide who will put together the team and lead it. Keep in mind that you cannot take any of the faculty with you since we need them here to protect the other students."
Justin stepped forward. "I would like to volunteer for that," he said.
Porter scoffed at him. "What makes you think that you can lead a team?" he asked.
Justin turned to Porter. "Because if Striker is the master that Lunar was talking about, I'm the only one of us that knows how to beat him," he said. "I'm also the only one of us that was able to beat Lunar in a fight, or did you forget how the Dark-seekers beat the crap out of you when they attacked? Lunar didn't even have to lift a finger before you collapsed."
Porter's face started to turn red from embarrassment. "Why you-," he started
Principal Cadres interrupted him. "Very well, Justin," he said. "You are all excused. Report back by the end of the day with your team. We will then proceed with what to do from there."
"Yes sir," Justin said. Everyone nodded, then walked out the door. Justin stopped outside the office as he thought about who he wanted on the infiltration team. Let's see, he thought. I know that I should have Sam, Kylan and Porter. I only need to take one more person.
Justin walked down the hallway, lost in thought when Lucas came out of nowhere. "Hey, Justin!" he said.
Justin jumped in surprise. "Lucas!" he shouted. "Don't do that! You scared me."
"Sorry," Lucas apologized. "I just needed to tell you something."
"What is it?" Justin asked.
Lucas pulled out a pair of gloves with a small panels that had multiple circuits running out of them. "These," he said.
Justin looked at the gloves. "What are those?" he asked.
Lucas smiled as he put them on. "Remember how you told me that I needed to learn magic in order to get better at combat?" he asked.
"Yeah," Justin said. "What about it?"
"Well, since I can't cast magic like some students can, I made these power gloves as replacements," Lucas explained.
"What do they do?" Justin asked.
"They simulate magic for me," Lucas said. He pushed one of the panel's, causing it to grow into a small number pad. "Watch this," he said, entering a code on the number pad. A small ball of fire appeared in his hand. He threw it in the air, where it burst into a small explosion.
"Interesting," Justin said. He stopped and thought for a minute. "Hey, Lucas."
Lucas looked at Justin. "What?" he asked.
"I have a proposition for you," Justin said, smiling.
When the school day had finally ended, Justin, Alpha, Sam, Porter, Kylan and Lucas met back in the principal's office. "So, this is the team that you've put together?" Principal Cadres asked. "The school's strongest students, and one of the school's weakest students?"
"Yes it is," Justin said.
Principal Cadres gave him a quizzical look, then shrugged. "Very well then," he said. He looked at Lucas. "You will need a communicator watch if you are to go on this mission."
Lucas showed the principal his power gloves. "I can just program the contacts I need into these," Lucas said.
Principal Cadres pulled out a small computer chip from his desk. "Here," he said, passing it to everyone. "Put this into your communicators to program your contacts on it."
The chip had finally gone to everyone and was now in Lucas' hand. "What do I do now?" Lucas asked.
"Put it in your gloves and it should install the contacts into them," Principal Cadres explained.
Lucas did as Principal Cadres told him. The number pad came out of the panel and a screen stretched out from it. Everyone's names showed up on the screen. "Thank you, sir," Lucas said.
Principal Cadres smiled. "Your welcome, Lucas," he said. "Now then, we're still working on reopening the rift that Lunar used when he invaded the school. Is there anything that any of you need to do beforehand?"
Justin thought about something that he had read in the Power of Light and Dark. "Actually," he said. "There is one thing that I've been meaning to check out."
"And what would that be?" Principal Cadres asked.
"There was something that I read in the book you gave me," Justin said. "It was something about a temple where the spirit of a master that helped to teach lost magic users how to master their magic was sealed. I was hoping to see if I would be able to learn a thing or two from it."
"Very well," Principal Cadres said. "But take your new team with you, this adventure might be a good way for you to start working together. We will contact you through your communicators when we are ready to open the rift. Though you will need a method of transportation."
Justin nodded. "Thank you," he said. "We will be sure and return as soon as we are contacted. As for the transportation part, is it possible for the school to lend us a vehicle?"
Principal Cadres thought for a minute. "I believe that there is something that you can use back in the school's vehicle hangar," he said.
