The team stood with the principal in the school hangar. It was filled with all kinds of weapons and vehicles. Many of these vehicles had been decommissioned or were remodeled to be used in order for students to train.
"Here we are," Principal Cadres said, pointing to a helicopter. "This is one of our more recent decommissions, it should work for your purposes."
Justin opened the door to the helicopter and sat down in the pilot's seat. "Great," he said. "So...does anybody actually know how to fly a helicopter?"
Kylan stepped forward. "I have some experience in piloting one," Kylan said.
"Perfect," Justin said, jumping out of the seat. "You can drive."
Principal Cadres smiled and pulled out a pair of keys. "Here are the keys," he said, handing them over to Kylan. "It will take us about an hour to get it refueled and re-activated. Why don't you take this time to take care of anything that you need to."
Justin nodded. "Right," he said. He turned to his team. "We meet back here in one hour. Make sure you use the bathroom before we leave, I don't want to have to make us stop fifty times for bathroom breaks."
Everyone rolled their eyes and left the hangar. Sam walked off and pulled out her cellphone to call her parents, as did Lucas. Porter walked off to the gym and began beating on the punching bags.
Kylan was leaning against the wall in the school lab, thinking to himself, when Justin and Alpha walked in. "What are you doing here?" Kylan asked him.
Justin shrugged. "I don't really have anything else to do," he said, putting a bundle of towels and rags on a table. "I was just going to work on this."
Kylan looked at the rags. "What is it?" he asked. "Cleaning towels."
Justin looked at him with an annoyed expression. "No," he said. He unwrapped all of the towels to reveal a saddle with grips on it. "It's a saddle for me to use when I ride Alpha. I bought it last night, after the dance. It can get really uncomfortable when I ride him for long periods of time. That and I have fallen off of him a few times. This should fix all those problems. What about you? Why are you in here?"
Kylan looked in the opposite direction. "I was just trying to find somewhere to think," he said. "Unlike Porter, I don't find comfort in punching things."
Justin smiled as he pulled out some tools and started to work on the saddle. "Why don't you call your parents," he suggested. "You know, tell them how much you love them or something mushy like that."
Kylan smirked. "No, I'm afraid not," he said. "There's no one left for me to talk to."
Justin's smile faded as he stopped working on the saddle. "I'm sorry, Kylan," he said. "I didn't mean to-"
Kylan stood straight and headed to the door. "It's fine," he said. "It doesn't really bother me that much. You wouldn't understand anyways."
Justin watched Kylan leave the lab and sighed. "Actually,"he said to himself. "I do." He wiped a tear that was forming from his eye, shook his head, and went back to working on Alpha's saddle.
Alpha rubbed his head on Justin's leg and let out a small whimper. "It's fine, Alpha," Justin said, giving him a small smile. "It's all in the past anyways. There's nothing we can do to change what happened."
Justin stayed in the lab, working on Alpha's saddle nonstop, until he was finally finished. He then began to put the saddle on Alpha. "There," Justin said, tightening the final strap of the saddle. "A perfect fit. Not too bad, if I do say so myself." He looked at the clock. "It's been about an hour. Everyone must be waiting for us back in the hangar."
Justin and Alpha walked back to the hangar, where they were greeted by the others. Sam noticed him coming and waved to him. "Are you ready to go?" she asked him, when he was closer. "Everything's ready. Principal Cadres was even nice enough to provide us with some provisions."
"That's great," Justin told Sam. He looked for Principal Cadres to thank him, but was unable to find him. "Where is Principal Cadres anyways?"
Sam shrugged. "I'm not sure," she admitted. "When we got here, there was no one to be found. Well, when we see him again, we can thank him." She picked up a headset and handed it to Justin.
"Right," Justin agreed, taking the headset and putting it on. "Is everyone here?" he asked.
"Yep," Sam said. "We were just waiting on you before heading out."
Justin sighed. "First day on the job and I'm already late for our first mission," he said.
Sam grabbed his hand and pulled him into the helicopter, Alpha jumping up right behind them. "Relax," she said. "I'm sure you'll be a great leader."
Justin smiled. "Thanks," he said.
Kylan's voice came on in the headset. "Ready to go?" he clarified.
Justin moved the microphone to his mouth. "Yeah," he said. "Let's go."
The helicopter blades started spinning, slowly picking up speed until the vehicle was lifted up. Above ground, a red light came out of the top of the courtyard fountain and began flashing. All of the students cleared out of the way and watched as the courtyard split in half, making a big hole in the ground. Everyone watched as the helicopter came out from the hole and rose higher as the courtyard began to close again, allowing the students to return to what they had been doing.
Justin stared out the window as the helicopter rose above the forest and flew over Amext. Kylan's voice came on the headset again. "Where are we going anyways?" he asked Justin.
Justin pulled out his book and opened it to a bookmarked page, reading it from top to bottom. "I'm not entirely sure," he said, reading over the page. "It says that a host of Light or Dark magic will know the way, but I don't know where."
Suddenly, a voice came into Justin's head. Well, of course YOU don't, said a familiar voice.
"Angel?" Justin said. "You know where we're supposed to go?"
Of course I do, Angel said. The only way that any of the previous Lost Magic users could find the temple you seek is because they were guided by us entities. The Lost Elemental Entities, like me, know the temple's location when we join with our hosts, even if we didn't know it beforehand, so that we can lead our hosts there when they need us to.
"Can you take us there?" Justin asked.
Of course, Angel said. The temple can be found in the center of the Amazon rainforest.
"Thanks," Justin said. "Kylan, the temple is in the center of the Amazon rainforest."
"Alright," Kylan said. "We will arrive there in about twelve hours."
"Great," Justin said. "I'm gonna take a nap." He leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes and sleeping for the rest of the flight.
