The next morning, Justin and Alpha woke up to the sound of rain hitting the canopy above them. Justin sat up and looked out at the rain coming down around them.

"Great," Justin sighed. "I hate rain. Guess we're taking the bus today." He looked at his watch to check the time. "Come on Alpha, we don't wanna be late for the bus again." As they left, Justin grabbed an umbrella hiding behind the back of the couch and opened it once they walked into the rain.

The two of them stopped by the bakery as they walked down to the bus stop and grabbed some bagels to go. Soon they got to the bus stop and waited with the other students for the bus. The two stood in silence while the other kids were laughing and joking with each other.

When the bus pulled up, Justin closed the umbrella and climbed on with Alpha. They sat in the back of the bus and ate their bagels as the bus pulled away and headed towards the school. They climbed out when it came to a stop and headed towards Justin's locker. When they got there, they saw three other students standing in front of it. Two boys and a girl.

"Man, what's taking this kid so long?" said one of the boys. He had a mohawk of white hair, yet the sides of his hair was dyed black. He was wearing a white tank top and jeans, with a red devil's tail sprouting from his body. "It's bad enough that I have to waste time training the kid, why do we have to do this anyways?" he asked one of the others.

"Because," said the other boy. "The principal requested us specifically." He was wearing a white suit and had long black hair that turned gray as it came towards his face. He had a scar going across his left eye and hair covering his right. He also had two swords that sat sheathed in their holsters sitting on either side if his hips.

"Why don't you stop complaining and be a man already?" asked the girl. She had long, straight black hair and bright green eyes. She wore a white button up short sleeved shirt, a short, blue skirt and light brown combat boots. She stopped and looked at Justin. "Is that him?" she asked.

The two boys turned and looked at Justin. "Umm...hi?" Justin said confused. "Can I help you?"

The boy with the mohawk stomped his way over to him. "Yeah!" he shouted. "You can start by explaining what the hell took you so long to get here you wimp!"

The boy in the suit walked over and pushed him aside. "Back down Porter," he said. "You need to learn how to think before you speak." He extended his hand to Justin. "My name is Kylan Valkyrie. My associates and I will be taking care of your training from this point on."

Justin shook his hand. "Nice to meet you. I guess," he said. "My name is-"

"Justin," interrupted the girl. "We know who you are. Principal Cadres has already told us about you."

Justin looked at her. "Well would you mind telling me who you are then?"

"Samantha Carlyle," she said. "But my friends call me Sam."

"Hey!" shouted Porter. "You gonna bother to introduce me rich boy?" He asked Kylan.

Kylan shrugged him off. "Right," he said. "The loud baboon over there is Porter Valume. You can ignore him."

"Hey!" Porter shouted angrily.

These are the people that are supposed to be protecting and training me? Justin thought. I'm so screwed.

Kylan walked to Justin. "Come on," he said. Tossing the weapons Justin had been using in the simulator on the floor. "We're starting your training now."

Justin reached down and picked up his weapons. "Right now?" he asked. "What about my classes?"

"Already taken care of," said Sam. "We got clearance from the principal. You've been excused from all of your classes for this week." And with that being said, Porter, Kylan and Sam walked off. Porter still arguing with Kylan.

Justin looked at Alpha. "Great, I'm thrilled." he said, sarcastically as he followed the others.

The four walked for a while until they came to the Training Hall. The Training Hall was a big building that was about the size of two football fields, with a control panel for creating virtual terrains in an Augmented Reality Training Regiment.

When they walked in, Sam and Porter immediately went towards the control panel. Kylan walked Justin to the center before heading off to join them, dragging Alpha with him. He leaned over to a microphone on the panel. "Alright," he said. "We will be training you to think on your feet and build reflexes." He nodded at Sam, who pushed a sequence of buttons, creating a city that surrounded Justin. "Don't worry, the city around you is only a virtual one in the form of a maze, but make no mistake, getting knocked into one if those buildings will definitely feel as if it were real."

Sam pushed a button on the panel and a timer came up, counting down from thirty. She took the microphone from Kylan. "When the counter above you runs down, I will be sending Kylan and Porter into the maze from two different sides. Your objective is to get out of the maze after defeating the two of them in battle. Both will attack on sight, but you will have the advantage of setting traps."

Justin looked up at the giant glowing timer, now at twenty seconds. "Okay, sure," he said, but what am I supposed to do if I can't beat them?"

The timer was now down to ten seconds. "Just try to beat them," said Sam.

Porter and Kylan walked over to the two entry points of the maze. "But why can't Alpha be in here with me?" Justin asked.

The timer reached zero as Kylan and Porter ran into the maze. "I know how fond of him you are. This is the only way to keep him from getting hurt," said Sam. "I hope you're ready, because your training starts...now."
