it was my birthday yesterday everyone cheer

[ Charlie Abbot
September 3rd ; 6:05 PM ]

They all froze like a deer in headlights.

"I'm sorry?" Luke sputtered out.

"Look, I'm not going to tell you the story." I bluntly spoke. "It's none of your fucking business and I would like it if I wasn't asked anymore questions about it— I'm done packing. Now, I was wondering if I could bring Strawberry with me to your house."

Luke opened his mouth, but Michael slapped his back to stop him from asking another question.

Michael smiled, "Of course, you can."

"Thanks." I thanked him, calling Strawberry over to me and getting down to her height. "Do you wanna go to a nice home for a little, honey?"

I packed her a bag fast and put her on the nice leash I'd bought myself, and turned back around.

"I'm ready."

I turned out all of the lights and locked the front door as everyone filed out, making double sure it was locked before we left.

We all walked to Luke's car and I put everything into the trunk.

"Do you mind if Strawberry sits in front of me? She's very clean and doesn't shed right now. She's small enough."

"Of course." Luke smiles.

As we drove, I felt myself getting lightheaded and dizzy. Strawberry seemed to notice his as her head rested on my thigh. I waved it off and rubbed my eyes.

"Jesus Christ," I mumbled, rubbing my temples and feeling my head begin to pound.

"What's wrong?" Michael asked.

"Nothing," I said to avoid more questions.

We arrived at their house, and I felt absolute shit.

I slid slowly out of the car with Strawberry whining at my legs, signaling something was wrong. Luke came over to me and studied my face.

"Are you sure nothing's wrong, Charlie?" Luke asked, moving closer to take a look at my face.

"Yep, yep." I said, "I'm fine."

"Really? 'Cause you look like you're gonna pass out."

"Yeah, you might want to get ready to catch me—"

She swayed from side to side as she spoke, "Yeah, you might want to get ready to catch me," signaling something was about to happen.

My reflexes were quick, and I caught her in my arms. I widened my eyes when I saw her passed out, pale, and in my arms.

"Oh shit, Michael!" I gasped. The three of them rushed over and froze when they saw Charlie in my arms.

"Oh my fucking god, Okay—" Michael being the responsible one, got up quickly. "Luke, you and I will take her to the hospital. Ashton, Calum, you bring her things in quickly and show sweet Strawberry our house."

Quickly, we got back into the car and backed out of the driveway. Charlie laid in my lap quietly and I began to worry.

"What relation to you have with the patient?"

"We're watching her because guardian is in hospital bed right now." I breathe, "He's in room four-three."

"Alrighty," the lady nodded, "Do you know what happened?"

"Well we were driving home, and she was zoned out, and then she mumbled 'Jesus Christ' so we asked what was wrong, and she said she was fine. But, when we got to our home she passed out."

"It's good you two brought her in when you did." She said quietly, "Charlie has an iron deficiency and is severely underweight and very dehydrated. I assume she passed out because she was dehydrated, but we have to do something fast or this could get worse."

"Thank you so much, Dr. Deaton." I thanked her, sending a smile her way. She smiled back and walked away.

"Is she okay?" Vincent asked when we entered his hospital room, staring at us rather intensely. "This happens at home sometimes—"

"What do you mean this happens often? Why isn't it on her medical records?" Michael interrupts him firmly.

"I don't bring her to the hospital when it happens. She was fine after a few hours and all was well." he quickly defended himself, frantically looking at Me and Michael.

We were about to continue asking him questions, but someone stepped in front of us. Ashton, who had just arrived, crossed his arms— obviously angry.

"You're telling me that your niece passed out on several occasions, and it never once crossed your mind that there might be something wrong? Is that what you're telling us? What if she wasn't okay after a couple of hours?"

"I-I would take her here-"

"What if it was too late?"

"I—"

"Tell me, Mr. Abbot, when was the last time that poor girl entered a hospital to have a proper check-up to make sure she was healthy?"

He shut his mouth and didn't say a fucking word.

We immediately rushed out of the room and went to my office. I sat straight into my chair and went into Patient Records files.

"Charlie Abbot," I mumbled to myself as I typed her name into medical records.

Her file came up and I clicked on it.

It read,

'Patients name is Charlie Adelaide Abbot, born in Fresno, California. Her last checkup is unknown. Born on February 27th.'

I clicked on the checkup link, to see if the file was sealed, but there was nothing. The only thing it said was where Charlie was born, which was in Fresno, California and when she had her vaccines, but nothing other then that.

I bit my lip before pressing the 'Patients Parents' link.
