December 24.

Christmas eve.

It's 4 am, yet I am wide awake. Not only me, but also my little brother and my parents.

I raised my hand, placed my elbow to a 'hand' of the couch and rested my cheeks on my palm.

I warmed myself by being wrapped by a thick, blue blanket. I sat infront of the chimney, with the bright fire burning in it.

"Are you waiting for Santa Claus?" A young voice said.

"No," I turned around to see Sammy sitting beside the christmas tree with gifts placed around it. "Are you excited to open your gifts?"

He nodded. "I can't wait to see what mom and dad brought me this time."

"It must be an awesome toy robot. With controls and... stuff. You like that?"

"Yes," He said with a smile. "Are you excited to open yours?"

I paused. I didn't know the answer myself either, but I just gave him a smile.

Mom and dad gave me a puppy when I was 7 as a Christmas gift, but I didn't know how to take care of her or to secure her, so one day it escaped from the house and I never saw it again. Then they gave me a lego set, but I was too careless so some parts went missing. Once they gave me a guitar, I was so happy and it was the best gift I had from them, but one night I forgot I placed my guitar just by the bed. It was dark, so I didn't notice it until I heard a crack, when I opened the lights, I cried when I saw my guitar crushed at the back.

Most of the best Christmas gifts I had from them always end up damaged or lost. It would never last long, so I never really found joy from receiving gifts, because I know I will never be responsible enough to take care of it.

I admired Sam for being careful to his things. All his toy robots seems new, and not even a scratch can be seen on it.

"Your present's really big, I wonder what it is," Sam studied the box wrapped with a colorful Christmas wrapper. It was little bit taller than him. "It must be very wonderful."

I let out a small chuckle as I leaned my head against the soft sofa's back support. "Not all big things are wonderful. It's not on the size that matters, it's the inside."

Sam tilted his head, confused in my words. He's only three, I can't expect him to understand it.

"Never mind." I said.

I could smell the savoring, delicious food that mom and dad are cooking. They said that visitors are coming in the late morning, so they had to cook early and prepare for them. But of course, not all the foods they've prepared are for the guests, we can't possibly only eat their leftovers, right? Of course they prepared the best dishes for the family.

I enjoyed the moment being warmed by the fire in the chimney and the delicious smell of the food coming from the kitchen. It was a fuzzy feeling.

Then suddely, my lap felt a vibration.

I looked down, and saw that my phone had received a message.

Who could this be?

Hey, Ray :) It's Christmas eve, you awake yet?
