Tanjirou's POV
After the gathering (a/n there's no coronavirus in their world so it's technically legal) everyone started to talk about what Oyakata-sama said. Some students wanted to be a demon slayer, but most of them didn't want to; unless that 'someone' would join. And that someone was 'her'.
Lunch
"Tanjirou can I go there first?" Kanao asked
"Sure!" I said
As soon as she walked outside of the door a huge group of students crowded around her. One of them asked: "Kanao-chan, are you going to join?" "Yeah, Kanao-senpai, are you going to join?" Said another. There was a window next to the door and Kanao managed to look in and gave me a 'please help me' look. Of course I couldn't ignore her especially with that look. I also couldn't help but laugh a little as I walked out of the room.
"Do you know where Kanao is?" I asked a student nearby pretending to not know.
"Oh, she's in the middle of the crowd, I think. At least that's what they told me." The student replied.
"Thanks!" I said as I made my way to the center of the crowd.
"Oh Kanao! There you are, I've been looking all over for you! Let's go to the cafeteria, come on!" I said as I held out my hand.
"Sure. Let's go, Tanjirou." She replied with a closed eye smile as she gave me her hand. Which made my heart skip a beat or two. 'I swear I'd kill for that smile, damn!' I thought.
And as always people were staring at us and gossiping about us right and left. I could never get used to this. It felt weird having all the attention from people when all you did was walk to the cafeteria to have your lunch. "Hey Kanao, want to speed up?" I asked. "Yeah, sure. Let's do it!" She replied as we sped through the hallway not making any sounds. Running was normal for us, for we always ran in our missions.
A moment later we reached our destination: the cafeteria.
As soon as we arrived whispering was heard.
"Isn't that Kanao Tsuyuri-san and her rumored boyfriend?"
"Oh yeah, I heard about that too."
"Look it's Kanao Tsuyuri-san. She's so pretty, isn't she?"
"Who's that guy beside her? He's so lucky."
"Looks like we're getting famous. Right, Kanao?" I whispered to her.
"Nevermind that. Let's find our friends." She said.
"Tanjirou! Over here!" Zenitsu called.
"There they are!" I said.
"Let's order food first."
"Okay"
We talked about what Oyakata-sama said during lunch.
"Hey guys (and girls), do you think there will still be final selection?" I asked.
"Actually I'm curious about that too." Zenitsu said.
"Maybe." Kanao said
"Do you think that when they are training we're going to have to do missions all by ourselves?" I asked
"That's good so they can see king Inosuke's power!!!" Inosuke said.
"That would be horrible, I don't wanna die yet!!!" Zenitsu said.
"Maybe we will be sent in pairs?" Kanao said.
"I hope so." Zenitsu said.
We finished eating then we went to the classroom and continued our classes.
