"Are we almost there?" I ask for about the thirtieth time in the past ten minutes.
"Yes Kate. We'll be there in like a minute. Chill!" Jc replies.
I'm so excited to adopt. I can tell Jc is a little nervous, but who isn't when it comes to being a parent?
"Kate we are finally here." Jc says putting the car in park.
I got out of the car as fast as possible and ran over to Jc. He took me hand and interlaced his fingers with mine. We slowly walked up to the door where we saw about twenty kids playing outside.
"Why hello there! You must be Kate and Jc! My name is Alexis! If you could just follow me I can show you where my teens are!"
I gave Jc's hand a quick squeeze and I followed Alexis. When we arrived I saw about five girls standing in a line.
"These are the preteens!" Alexis stated motioning to the girls.
"Okay, I was wondering if we could have one on one time with each of the girls?" I asked.
"Of course. I'll take the girls out into the hallway."
Alexis left the room with all of the girls except one. I walked over to her and motioned for her to sit down.
"Hi my name is Kate and this is my husband Jc," I said.
"Hi Kate and Jc my name is Ruby!"
Jc and I took turns asking a series of questions with each girl. We had gone through almost everyone, except one girl came running in at the end.
"Hi guys! My name is Madi!"
"Well hello there Madi, I'm Kate and this is Jc!"
"I don't have much time before I have to go to work so I'll just tell you about myself."
"Okay hun. Go ahead!"
"Well hi guys. I'm Madi and I'm eighteen. I take online highschool and I work at taco bell from 10:30am to 5pm. I've been living here since I was about fourteen. I hope you will consider me for adoption!"
Madi quickly ran out of the room and I looked at Jc.
"Who did you like?" I asked Jc hoping we would agree.
"Madi!" he replied with a big grin on his face.
"Me too! Let's call Alexis back in!"
We slowly opened the door where we saw all of the girls standing. Alexis was behind them smiling.
"So who did you guys choose?" Alexis asked.
"Madi."
